Fans are so sharp in Vancouver, if this is a shitty trade deadline people will understand how damaging it will be.

If the Canucks deal Suter Boeser and Forbort and use some of the assets for a centre upgrade I’m okay with that. Just hope they hold onto some of the assets.

Yea don't listen to the aj pizza guy. Just drunk bar talk basically re boeser trade being blocked by ownership

The only reason people catch on it is because we know aquilini is a goof

Keeping expiring UFAs on this mediocre team in a bid to prop up a crumbling playoff push would be quite something.

I know people want to flip Boeser for assets because of the seller's market, but I highly doubt the team will do it without converting those assets into another player, in which case you're paying sellers market prices for the acquisition.

Unless the team holds said assets until the prices come down (i.e. the trade deadline), you aren't generating a lot of surplus with the moves, and that makes it a lot more difficult to get to the playoffs if you do wait.

Whether people like it or not, making the playoffs this year is clearly important to the owner & management, especially when you consider the beating the Canadian dollar has taken since the start of the season. There's a real chance they might not be a cap team without that playoff gate revenue.

If Boeser isn’t traded, it won’t be because the value wasn’t good enough or whatever, that will just be a smoke screen, it will be because management and ownership want to make the playoffs this year and don’t want to downgrade the team.

We’ve basically seen this organization be focused on the present at the expense of the future for basically Acquillini’s whole ownership of the team. I have no idea why fans all of a sudden think this trend won’t continue especially in a season where we have a much better probability of making the playoffs than we usually have.

Blueger is on a great contract for another year. Suter is on a great contract for the rest of this year. They are both really important players. If either is traded (especially Blueger) it would need to be a serious overpay.
IMO the Soucy trade is all we do this TDL.
Trading Blueger doesn't make a lot of sense to me, you can't replace him for what he's getting paid next year. I would trade Suter if he isn't someone they're going to re-sign.

Its like having eklund on a mainstream sports channel, AJ is just a guy selling his pizza, funny H&B say having fans call in is cringe but this AJ guy pays them money to call in and be cringe with his fake rumours and unfunny banter.

I don't really see how that message aligns with moving Suter and/or Blueger. And then there's absolutely no guarantee they make the playoffs, in fact they well might not. At which point, the messaging on losing Boeser for nothing will be terrible. I almost feel like if they hold Boeser through the TDL, they have to also concede to his contract demands.

Not only that, but most players available at the deadline are rentals, so trying to trade Boeser, indirectly, for a non rental at the deadline will be extremely challenging.

Obviously the best value proposition is to trade rentals at the deadline for picks, and trade those picks for players at the draft. You maximize value that way.

But that probably won’t happen because it’s inconsistent with the organizations primary goal which is making the playoffs.

I’m not really expecting them to move either as just a futures trade.

I'd bet it's good pizza. I like my pizza made by someone who practically shouts into the phone receiver and thinks they are better than me because Reid f***in Boucher and Philip Holm came in for a slice once 8 years ago.

To add onto this, I wasn’t surprised they moved Soucy for futures, but that’s because he wasn’t providing any value to the team in the present, and actually potentially improved the team by giving us cap space.

Pizza boy doesn’t know anything. Just like Brough and Halford.

Wish Dallas and Carolina would hurry it up

As far as this season goes I just do not get the optics of trading either.
If they wanted to extend Suter, the Jake Evans extension opened the window to do so. the way the team operates it would have been done by now. So (IMO) either they don't want to, or there is too big a gap between what the player and team want. In either case, they should move him if the price is right.

Blueger is signed next year for a very reasonable price and brings a ton of utility. I very much doubt they can replace what he brings in free agency, trade (for less then he returns) or internally . Unless someone is offering something too good to pass on (rd1/2 pick or decent prospect...ie someone like Lapierre) , I don't see the point.

At this point, I don't really care about optics. The team has not earned the benefit of the doubt and management doesn't owe them anything.
