We all know Nashville will hang onto their players until they have no value left. Feel bad for them. They need a scorched earth rebuild and have a few pieces that could accelerate that process.
Makes sense for them to go into a rebuild but them f***ing up this offseason with those super aging vets should really push them much closer to a rebuild.

I think the perfect player for us and obviously for everyone else as well would be Robert Thomas. Would give up Willander for him.

Worth pointing out we could have drafted Thomas if we’d ever really committed to our own “rebuild” and got a second 1st. Like I wanted.

He's one of those guys noone has ever heard of but is somehow a top 20 centre in the league.

Thomas is awesome.

I don’t see any reason why St Louis would trade him.

I’d be surprised if they do this. Hughes, Hronek, Petterson Sr. and Myers are top four in ice time by a country mile. They’ll all continue to eat 20-25 mins per game.
I think the likely answer is somewhat of a combination. We've seen a lot that Tocc/Foote will have pairs "on paper", but in practice the guys rotate a lot and don't really have conventional pairs.

Hughes, Hronek, and MPetey might all be on separate "pairs", but Hughes will likely share the ice with Hronek a lot and special teams + high leverage situations will vault all of them into the mid-20s in ice time.

Hughes - Hronek ; 20-25 mins
M.Pettersson - Myers - 18-22 mins
Forbort - Soucy - 15-18 mins

Depends on the game. If Forbort and Soucy are having difficulties moving the puck, then switch Hronek and Soucy.

I’d check in on what Seattle wants for Wright.

They already have Beniers with Catton on the way.

Couple with a potential Top 5 pick in a draft with a ton of Cs, he could be had if the price is (w)right.

don’t see why Seattle would move any of them at this time. Wright has also taken massive leaps in development and is already playing key minutes with Seattle and showing why he was a touted as a 1st OA pick.

Maybe McCann as a top 6 wing option? Has 30-40 goal potential and a good PP guy. Maybe Seattle bites.

I see M. Pettersson-Myers at 20+ mins per game regularly. Pettersson has been averaging well over 20 mins since his arrival. Forbort-Soucy is a strong third pairing at 15-16 minutes on average. Both have proven to be the most consistent and reliable in that range. It will be nice not to have to play Hughes-Hronek 25+ minutes regularly.

Cause we need a young C that’s why.

Duh.

I like McCann as well.

The great thing about Abby being just down the highway, and EP25 now a known quantity, is that if they're having too many difficulties, EP25 is just a phone call away.

No need to insert Juulsen, in fact, I'd feel better if they went out and acquired cheap veteran insurance just in case.

I don't see the need to keep Forbort and Hronek together.

Pettersson - Myers are going to play a shit ton at evens and be your matchup pair.

Let Hughes go back with Hronek.

Just spoon feed Forbort - Soucy 12-14 minutes a night. PK, etc. I don't want to assume that pairing won't work until we see them play. And if it doesn't, then you put Pettersson in for Forbort. Forbort has been a monster recently, but I don't think we need to be sacrificing Hughes - Hronek to make him fit. I just don't see the obvious advantage there in how we match up

this ^^

There's little value in carrying Soucy as a #6 dman, imo. I think they move him if that's the case.

I hope they try something like this before reverting to Hughes-Hronek once more:

Hughes-Myers
MPetey-Soucy
Forbort-Hronek

Rationale:
- Myers has approximated Hronek with Hughes this year. This is a massive boon.
- Hronek is finding a transition game with Forbort, and without Hughes. This is a positive development.
- They must test what they have in Soucy on his off-side before the deadline.

I think most agree that EP25 is going to get demoted once Hughes returns. Given that, if MPetey can replicate EP25's play alongside Soucy, then there will be no net loss. They could be the shutdown pair and the other 2 pairs remain the engine.

And if Soucy fails in this regard, move him out. Use his cap space elsewhere.

Sitting at the airport on another delayed Air Canada flight, which means I can kill time sifting through rosters to see top 6 forwards that may be available given position in the standings, change of scenery, or a trade for a different type of forward to supplement a roster.

1st liner:
Robert Thomas
Pavel Buchnevich
Filip Forsberg
Troy Terry
Jared McCann

2nd liner:
Dylan Cozens (risky contract)
Trevor Zegras (would get assassinated by Tocchet lol)
Matias Maccelli (super buy low)
Lawson Crouse (complementary top 6 guy maybe, horrid season)
Rickard Rakell
Pavel Zacha
Owen Tippett (Philly has lost the plot as usual, would've loved to steal Farabee)
Dawson Mercer
Gustav Nyquist
Tommy Novak

Hate to give up Lekkerimaki or Willander, but you'd likely need to if you wanted someone in the top tier. The Canucks will likely need both of those players in the roster next season to really make a push, potentially making a run at Marner or Rantanen in the offseason if the cap allows.

Out of the guys listed, buying low on Novak or Maccelli may be the play, or snag Tippett from Philly because wtf are they doing over there.

Utah needs defense badly and I could see them liking Soucy to add some size/depth. With Forbort and D-Petey really stepping up, Soucy is expendable. Maccelli for Soucy + prospect/pick/Hoglander I don't care, snag em. Novak would add to the center depth and either he or Chytil could play winger as they can both pass well.

Troy Terry would be the ultimate get. He has the skill and speed to really thrive here. I'd easily trade a 1st + Lekkerimaki + roster player for him.

Oh look, the flight got delayed again smh.
