I would evaluate Chytil until the Deadline, not sure if he develops into a 2c or a slightly overpaid 3c. A package with him for Norris or Cozins.

If we are looking to extend O’Connor, I’m thinking something in the 3x3 range. Maybe something like $2.75m per if we go to 4 years.

That's a bit rich imo. He should be around the Heinen contract or a bit lower on 3-4 year term.
If it's $3m and up, I give that money to Suter first.

Genuinely think EP40 will get traded at the deadline or the draft. I don't think he wants to be here and hasn't for a long time.

It’s closer to 3.5 than 4 ppg. I’m not sure he could get 300, but I have no doubt he could do better than his career best in the current game by a margin.
How does a team trade two first line centers and not build a gap in the lineup that is impossible to fill.

Important distinction.
You guys are high on nostalgia. Draisaitl is stylistically similar and scores 100-130 points playing with McDavid. You think Lemieux would score 2-3x as frequently? I could see 150-200 but no player in any pro sport is that dominant.
The only way someone would score 300 points is if you took current McDavid and teleported him back to the 80s/early 90s with the benefit of all of his current training and equipment. His skating + puck handling package would make him basically untouchable and he’d be able to routinely score from outside the blue line due to the quality of goaltending at the time.
Pettersson has not been a 1 C for more then a year. Looks like a 3C now, he can easily be replaced. Hughes will elevate any player’s game.

No idea how this works cap wise but I see no realistic chance of both Ehlers and Marner. I would prioritize Marner and make sure we save money for a massive Hughes extension. I love Marner with Petey but not with Debrusk. I think they would benefit more from a heavy, forechecking winger with some hands such as Dak or maybe a re-signed O'Connor.

Replace by committee until a legitimate replacement option arrives. There will be an opportunity to make a trade.
I could also see them going after Marner in FA. Say what you will about his playoff performances - he gets it done every year in the regular season and he's never played with a defenceman like Hughes. Mitch just needs to get the f*** out of Toronto and away from his psycho Dad.

Sucks but I feel like Pettersson has lost a ton of trade value. At one point these names being mentioned, Barzel, Thomas, and Tkachuk, Pettersson's would of easily netted one of these players via trade. Now I don't think he can unless its a packaged deal. Pettersson's value is at a alltime low and the Canucks are in a bit of a predicament here. Hold on to Petey in hopes of a bounce back. Risking further decrease in value. Trade him now or keep him as a core player.
Really sucks that a player who used to have one of the highest trade values in the league, can barely get you a second tier star player now. This was the player that should get the kings ransom in a return, now I am not so sure what he can get in return for a trade. His crappy contract, on ice play and rumors or lockeroom disfunction have plummeted his value imo.

I don't think you can risk holding onto him and hoping he returns to form. If this is the new normal, that contract is a boat anchor that is buyout proof and prevents us from competing altogether. That's the issue.
Without Hughes in the lineup, he is massively struggling to drive plays and generate anything on his own. We can't afford a $11.6 million dollar complementary player. It's just that simple. If he rebounds elsewhere, then you know it was just a bad fit here in the end. He is likely never going back to that form.

A second tier player in return. Unfortunately that is an upgrade on his current play. The entire circus in Vancouver can be used as a reason for his poor play so other team's might give a little more.
His contract and the possibility of a return to previous play might actually be a bonus to some teams with the cap exploding the way it will.
A small market team like Winnipeg might roll the dice on the possible return for another 7 years at 11.6 because that will be a bargain within 2 years. They have enough veterans signed long term to let Pettersson just play and not be the feature player. They are good without him so some pressure is off. He would be a great fit for them. But I am not sure they would want to give up too many prospects or picks because with a large cap they will need more players under cap control.
Both Buffalo and Columbus need a feature player, Columbus more than Buffalo.
But I agree holding out for a home run is just wasting more time and could be just confirming that this 100+ game slump isn't a slump at all. It could be Daigle 2.0 if they hold out too long.
IMO take less, do the best but take something, use the 11.6 mil for getting better players, picks or prospects.
Maybe even a 2 year tank.
As a side note there was a To media guy saying that the core in TO needs refreshing, they aren't winning in the playoffs, the current core goes back to 2015. That waiting 7 years is long enough if not winning, that waiting longer is bad management. Eight years in a row of playoffs but no cup, so re-tooling is necessary. Actually this is similar to the early years especially Montreal and early Toronto when they were winning multiple cups in a row and the Islanders when they got 4 in a row. They kept changing up the team. Different times though, now players are generationally wealthy and can choose where to play at a certain time.
Vancouver might be nice but it is still a Canadian city and most players don't want to play in Canada where they are under a microscope and there is some harsh weather.
Canucks have rarely been a destination for players with the exception of the Quinn and Gillis years. Recently most FAs have not resigned here once their contracts expired and two at least have asked multilple times for a trade already. Maybe EP knows something and regrets signing that long term deal and wants out. Management has creased the skids for that to happen.
A side note, Allvin expressed about the Miller trade, about his "talk" with him and thanked him for "working" with him. Never said he asked for a trade but it was understood that moving was going to happen. The talk after the benching and Tocchet throwing him under the bus.

I'm banging my head in laughter that a coupe people actually are saying this seriously. Like oh my God. And Hasek could get 70 shutouts, and Brett Hull would score 130 goals. What are these guys smoking ... it's so good it's bad lol.
