Friedman: Tampa have inquired about Tuch, gunning for a forward.

Sabres big trades

1. Reinhart for Levi and 1st ( Kulich)
2. Ristolainen for Hagg, 1st (Rosen) 2nd ( Wahlburg)
3 Eichel , 3rd and 5th for Tuch, Krebs, 1st ( Ostlund) and 2nd( used to acquire Greenway)

Tuch getting traded for magic brans isnt going to work just grkm a PR standpoint

Trading Mittlestadt wasn't strange when he was on pace for a career high total of 62 points. He was being overrated and they sold high on him.

He's fine, he's just a 50-60pt player, nothing really more.
It was a value trade that looks fine in a vacuum, but is downright terrible when considering the context of Buffalo's roster. The only strength on Buffalo's team was left handed PMDs, so cratering your center depth to add yet another one is just obscene. So now we have wasted another year of play with 3 top 4 left handed PMDs, all with diminished value, and still have a weird uneven roster. I hate this team so !@#$ing much.

Oh there was 2 of the same message, I thought you were responding to the other one. Also would argue those offers are still more than we paid for Jeannot
And the conspiracy theorists think that the Jeannot return was in part a deliberate overpay to get rid of Cal Foote before that Team Canada scandal he was implicated in became public

If only they hadn't blown such a big wad on Jeannot...

Makes sense though, Tuch is a rare commodity but I can't see him wanting to leave nor Buffalo wanting to move him unless it's an unrealistic return.

I beg to differ. I think getting back Geekie and a 2nd would be a solid return. Course, I'm higher on Geekie than some.

Yeah. I’m pretty meh on Geekie, I also think Tuch is one of those guys that shouldn’t be available for anything reasonable.

Buffalo is overflowing with picks and prospects and young 20 somethings finding themselves...and we already don'thave room for what we have.. and you want to add 3 more to our cupboard.

I don’t think that makes sense for Buffalo. They need to make more moves for current skilled NHLers. Not to recoup more assets.
Just to say. I feel like trading Tuch isn't the direction Buffalo should take, but if they do, it needs to be an overpay (like here, basically 3 firsts for 1.5 yrs of Tuch doesn't sound too bad does it?)

It sounds absolutely dreadful

If Tampa wants a forward that they can throw a pick at ...you can have Jordan Greenway for a 2nd ish

Tampa isn't exactly busting with cap space. Means at least one contract has to go back. The guys that might make sense to go the other way have NTC/NMC.

I agree with all that for sure and Byram would / will return better than Mittlestadt. The trade was good but you are right that it hasn't solved the main problems, that Adams should have fixed.

Having Dahlin, Power and Byram should make your D awesome, but the roster doesn't make that happen.

Truth be told, I don't see a great deal of fit for a trade here if Buffalo wants NHL/NHL-ready players, but I also think it's strange how many Sabres fans consider this guy untouchable (untuchable?) while they have a terrific 23 year old every bit as good as Tuch with longer team control at a solid price publicly on the block in Cozens.

Tuch's deal is up next year. Even if he likes Buffalo a lot, it's hard to picture him staying unless they make some sort of serious strides next season, which just doesn't seem feasible to bet on since Tampa, Toronto, and Florida aren't going anywhere and Ottawa, Montreal, and Detroit are all on the come up.

I also don't see "alienating the fanbase" as a legitimate reason they're going to hang on to Tuch. Buffalo has traded pretty much all of the big name guys who have played for them in the last ten years other than Thompson and Dahlin.

I also don't think the "within the division" thing even applies here. The Sabres didn't think twice about shipping Hall to Boston or Montour and Reinhart to Florida.

I get it, Tuch is an awesome player and a strong voice in the room, but what does that get Buffalo for the next two years? It's not like he's filling the seats on his own now, and it's not like he's leading them to the playoffs. Why wouldn't they get something for him while they can?
I'm not a Buffalo fan, but one of their biggest issues, imo, has been consistently trading away veterans. It has made for a team full of future stars who don't have guys around them to insulate them as they develop and ease them into the league. And Tuch loves Buffalo, he grew up in upstate NY as a Sabres fan, so it shouldn't be an issue re-signing him when his deal is up.

Tampa has accrued enough cap for Tuch half retained but will likely accrue a lot more by the TDL and could trade Sheary if needed. Don't think Tampa is going to be willing to trade roster players, Tuch to Tampa likely isn't a good fit for BUF

Not at all.
You’re out of your mind.

Cirelli is younger, locked up longer at an AAV that will be less than Tuchs new deal, elite defensively, plays the more important position, and his offense is not a material drop off compared to Tuch PLUS a first round pick.
