I think we can all agree that's a very special situation that doesn't typically happen
Indeed. Which is what it would take to get Tuch to Tampa, IMO

Cozens has the POTENTIAL to be every bit as good as Tuch.Truth be told, I don't see a great deal of fit for a trade here if Buffalo wants NHL/NHL-ready players, but I also think it's strange how many Sabres fans consider this guy untouchable (untuchable?) while they have a terrific 23 year old every bit as good as Tuch with longer team control at a solid price publicly on the block in Cozens.
Since when is Cirelli a point per game player? Hes never even come close to PPG. We just making shit up now ?Cirelli and Cernak might be a fair trade for Cozens AND Tuch, but Tuch alone? A point per game player on a great deal with Selke votes every year in his mid 20s for a guy with fewer goals and only another year left on his deal? I hope you're being sarcastic

Tuch's deal is up next year. Even if he likes Buffalo a lot, it's hard to picture him staying unless they make some sort of serious strides next season, which just doesn't seem feasible to bet on since Tampa, Toronto, and Florida aren't going anywhere and Ottawa, Montreal, and Detroit are all on the come up.
I also don't see "alienating the fanbase" as a legitimate reason they're going to hang on to Tuch. Buffalo has traded pretty much all of the big name guys who have played for them in the last ten years other than Thompson and Dahlin.
I also don't think the "within the division" thing even applies here. The Sabres didn't think twice about shipping Hall to Boston or Montour and Reinhart to Florida.
I get it, Tuch is an awesome player and a strong voice in the room, but what does that get Buffalo for the next two years? It's not like he's filling the seats on his own now, and it's not like he's leading them to the playoffs. Why wouldn't they get something for him while they can?
Cirelli has never been point per game? This year is his closest with 40 in 51 GP.Cirelli and Cernak might be a fair trade for Cozens AND Tuch, but Tuch alone? He’s unTuchableBuffalo needs another 2 guys like Tuch, not trade the only one they have.
But it is Buffalo so you can't discount them making bad decisions.
Add JokiharjuCirelli has never been point per game? This year is his closest with 40 in 51 GP.
But that said -- Cirelli and Cernak for Tuch and Cozens..................that's an intriguing as hell idea. And as a Sabres fan, I'd even add a bit to our side to make it happen.
However as I said above -- I don't see any universe where TB wants to deal Cernak AND I don't see any universe where Cernak waives to come here.
My bad, he was earlier in the season but he's now at 40 points in 51 games, I'll eat that oneSince when is Cirelli a point per game player? Hes never even come close to PPG. We just making shit up now ?
I beg to differ. I think getting back Geekie and a 2nd would be a solid return. Course, I'm higher on Geekie than some.Feels very underwhelming if I’m Buffalo.
Agree that Cernak probably would not waive but I wouldn't be so certain that Brisebois wouldn't include him in this sort of deal if he was confident that he could go get someone like Ferraro, Grzelcyk, or Dumoulin in a separate dealCertainly agreed when you take NTCs into consideration.
But if he would waive to come here (not gonna happen, but still).....I'd absolutely do something around Cernak for Tuch. It's a moot point though, since Cernak isn't waiving and Tampa has ZERO reason whatsoever to trade Cernak.
Yeah I was off on the points per game, should have gone with "almost," lol. Cernak's trade protection decreases next year and I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him get moved. Cirelli would be a shocker. May not be a point per game but with the way he defends it really doesn't even matter to meCirelli has never been point per game? Cernak has a full NTC until 27-28Agree that Cernak probably would not waive but I wouldn't be so certain that Brisebois wouldn't include him in this sort of deal if he was confident that he could go get someone like Ferraro, Grzelcyk, or Dumoulin in a separate deal

Whoops, mixed him up with McDonagh.Cernak has a full NTC until 27-28
Does nothing for Buffalo, and I didn't like Geekie at all in the draft.I beg to differ. I think getting back Geekie and a 2nd would be a solid return. Course, I'm higher on Geekie than some.
Not to mention JBB probably will not make Isaac Howard available, either. I don't really see the Lightning putting together a realistic offer, but it is Kevyn AdamsCernak has a NTC and there is a 0% chance that he's waiving it to play in Buffalo, Cirelli doesn't have trade protection this year but he is worth far more as a player than Tuch and is valued very highly in this org.
I could see JBB throwing out a dump truck of picks & prospects to try to swing him but if that's not what Buffalo is interested in as has been reported then there's likely not a deal to be made here.
Dont see it happening.Around the 40 minute mark of the latest 32 thoughts Friedman mentions that Tampa has checked in on Alex Tuch, not sure what's going on there, but Tampa wants to add a forward.
They gave up mire to nashvilke for a worse playerFeels very underwhelming if I’m Buffalo.
They gave up roughly 2 1sts in value for Jeannot which is awful but Cirelli alone is worth more than that not accounting for the extra 1st so I wouldn't say thats trueThey gave up mire to nashvilke for a worse player
Eh I can't blame them.. cap crunched so they took big swings on Jeannot and Hagel. One hit one didn't, you win some you lose someIf only they hadn't blown such a big wad on Jeannot...
Yes but have you considered that we are supposed to be doing all these other teams a favour for no good reason? There is nothing more annoying on the trade board than people who propose things with zero regard to what the other side needs or wants. The absolute LAST thing the Sabres need or want are picks and prospects.
Not buying thatBuffalo needs another 2 guys like Tuch, not trade the only one they have.
