He's likely still suffering from tendonitis but there's probably also suffering from the fallout of tendonitis and how he treated it over the off season.
Ever noticed how players who hold out during training camp (including when Petey did it) have an outlier bad year that season 98% of the time?
It's because it's hard to get on a moving train. If you're behind, you won't catch up during the season. The season is about maintaining what you gained during the off season.
If he trained around tendonitis during the off season and it left him behind, he won't be catching up this season.

A lot of people keep saying 'If he's hurt, why does the brain trust keep throwing him under the bus' and I suspect the reason is that they don't agree with how he trained around his tendonitis in the off season. They may even be correct. He may have been discouraged or depressed and not trained himself sufficiently. That's not an excuse, it's a possible explanation and would be why they refuse to provide him with any cover.
It won't be corrected until next year and if it's not as a Canuck we will regret it for 20 years.
