Anybody else tired of Vegas and the Florida teams signing players on the cheap because "a 9 million dollar contract there is like a 12 million dollar contract in a Canadian market"? The abundance of no-state-tax cups in recent years isn't just because of that advantage, but it sure does help. If Guentzel signs in Tampa for less than the Canucks would've offered it's just one more way the more passionate markets are being screwed over by an advantage given to places where hockey is a niche 4th or 5th place sport because they don't believe in providing health care or social services to their citizens.

Maybe it's time to stop giving U.S. teams a share of the 433 million per year Canadian Broadcast revenues the league gets--those 24 teams can share the 200 million while the 7 Canadian teams share get 40 million plus each year--then ditch the cap altogether and Florida teams can still sell their climate but not have the cap cheat code working for them any more.

I know Tampa could very well announce he has signed any minute now—but you would’ve thought that Guentzel would’ve received Tampa’s offer right away and made a deal if it was a slam dunk.

I still think he is headed to market tomorrow. Perhaps there is something to the Vancouver rumors after all.

Perhaps he just wants to test the free agent market no matter what. Maybe Carolina knew that 100% certain and traded his rights to Tampa anyways—knowing that they wouldn’t be able to sign him either.

Red Wings paying to ship out Walman to bring in Trouba, P.Kane and whatever bumboclot they decide to do is the Yzerplan?
GMs are like Abe Simpson:

Steve Yzerman used with be with ‘it’
But then they changed what ‘it’ was
Now what Steve Yzerman is with isn’t ‘it’ anymore
And what is ‘it’ is strange and scary to Steve Yzerman
And it’ll happen to Chris MacFarland, Kyle Dubas, and Julien BriseBois too!

Some decent young players didn't get qualified or bought out that could be signed for cheap as depth.
Noah Gregor
Alex Nylander
Blake Lizotte
Jesper Boqvist

Yeah I'd give Adam Boqvist and Alex Nylander a cheap contract to try.
