Probably something around Sillinger + prospect/pick

265 games played, career high in points is 32 - if he's the main piece coming back I don't know how you even go to Quinn Hughes and present him an extension with a straight face knowing he wants to be on a contender.

Would be a disaster if the main piece isn't Kent Johnson/Adam Fantilli tbh.

Sillinger being the main piece in a deal for Miller is something I'd be more open to, but 0 chance for Pettersson.

I don't think it's a good trade at all, but I'm assuming other GMs are hitting Allvin with lowballs, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to get Petey with a package centered around Sillinger.

I'd much rather hold onto Petey unless they were able to get Johnson/Fantilli out of CBJ, but I don't see that happening.

A trade around Miller for Sillinger + 2nd would be much more palatable and might be more realistic as I bet Miller would waive to go to Ohio.

I think that's basically exactly what he was doing.

Everything is basically already out there so you're in a stronger position acknowledging it and kicking it back to the players as a challenge than just continuing to not comment and let things fester and let the media continue to speculate.
Absolutely, and even going as far as to reiterate they don't want to trade either player.

Kicking it back to the players as a challenge was the right thing to do, they're part of the core leadership group, both are wearing letters, and they need to take ownership of the situation on and off the ice.

I naively hope Sillinger is available in a Miller deal. Super versatile player.

Does he have any untapped potential? A breakout candidate? Or is he limited and WYSIWYG? Only 21 but already his 4th season averaging ~30 pts a season.

He's playing huge minutes this season (~17mins/game) and passes the eye test when I watch him play. I'd bet on him breaking out, especially if he plays a lot of minutes with Hughes on the ice.

Given his usage and age, his floor is pretty much a Boone Jenner type. He's their top PKer, plays centre, etc. I'm surprised to see him pop up on the trade rumours board from CBJ fans, but maybe I'm misremembering.

Maybe also a not so subtle message to the one who remains: ‘you’re going to be playing on a re-tooling team as we will have to replace the top line C you hate so much with a third liner’

TSN Insider Trading

Salary Cap (Dreger)
  • Expectation is the NHL will reveal next season’s salary cap at the 4 Nations Tournament; may include seasons afterwards as well
  • Told it is unlikely the salary cap will be above 96m
Vancouver Canucks (LeBrun)
  • A team to talk about would be the Columbus Blue Jackets; have interest in Pettersson
  • Have had recent preliminary discussions with the Blue Jackets
  • Teams are questioning who is Elias Pettersson
  • Canucks talking to teams about Miller and Pettersson
  • Sensing teams are waiting to see if the Canucks will lower their asking price on Miller & Pettersson
Brandt Clarke (Johnston)
  • Is not in-play as a trade target
  • His scratch is just a re-charge
Montreal Canadiens (LeBrun)
  • Will stick with their plan; stay the course and not pay rental prices
  • Looking to make a bigger impact deal
Brandon Saad (Johnston)
  • Expecting a handful of contending teams to kick the tires on him
  • Thinks the Maple Leafs will make a push to sign him
  • His price will be a determining factor

Yeah I'd be fine with Sillinger and a pick for Miller, that seems reasonable.

Gotta aim way higher to dislodge Petey though, imo. I don't think Fantilli is outlandish, they were drafted 3 positions apart, Petey is just further in his development.

Kent Johnson is a nice piece but move a top C for winger gets us nowhere.

All that said. Teams smell blood in the water and I doubt they're making their best offers these days.

A 100 point beast like Miller is available and teams wanna cheap out this significantly? The goal is to win the cup, not have the best prospect pool. Pay up ya turds. Drury especially. Guy will get fired if the Rags miss the playoffs. He was gifted so much by Horton and he's about to blunder it big time.

He's going to be a tremendous 1/2C for probably fifteen years, but he's also unknown/underrated rights now so you definitely try to get him as an add on to another main piece.
Agreeing to lower your asking price away from Fantilli, but getting Sillinger and KJ/Voronkov etc would be a pretty big haul. (Maybe Provorov or some other cap who cares at that point)

Not for Petey. It would be in the KJ/Voronkov/Fantilli range. Sillinger as the main piece is a fireable offense.

People rate Johnson higher than Sillinger? Really?
