@bossram , on your last post:

Ya. And basically everything that’s happened since the LOA points it being related, whether directly or indirectly directly, to Miller not just leaving Petey along as likely instructed by Tochett.

It’s kind of a separate matter as to how overly critical Miller was being to Petey or whatever, and whether Petey was being unreasonably defensive or otherwise not taking the criticism well. People are speculated a lot on that, and I think based on Richardson’s comments Miller was likely gong too far, but we just don’t know.

It's rather entertaining the Nashville beat guy asked Miller about Rutherford's comments and the entire Vancouver sports media in unison basically exclaims: "See! It's not us!"

Tbh, I’d actually rather have Power/Cozens.
Power might be really, REALLY good in a couple years.
Cozens is awful. He is a bad hockey player that actually hurts the Sabres. His 31 goal season was a shooting percentage anomoly.
He drags their PP down, every time he changes lines the players that leave his line get better and who he is put with gets worse, and he's been like that for a couple years.

Never say never. LA paid with premium players and prospects to acquire warty players like Fiala and Dubois. They could be exactly the sort of team the Canucks could take advantage of in this situation.
Ya, I just said “probably not”. But if the wheels fall off on LA and they miss the playoffs then I could see one of Petey for Byfield or Miller for Clarke being possible.

Edit: I also think it’s a non story that a 21 year old offensive oriented defensemen trying to learn the the defensive side of the game on a defensively inclined playoff team is being scratched.

I won't argue Miller is getting spoiled with Hughes minutes. Which is why I'm more inclined to keep Pettersson because the hope is once he gets those favorable minutes, he'll bounce back. At the same time, Pettersson is being paid to be a difference maker. And it's a little frustrating he can't seem to gel with anyone for long stretches.

When you're in the double digit figure, you make your linemates better. Not the other way around. I think pretty much everyone here would be a lot less critical of him if he and Hughes swapped salaries.

Yeah, they have 9 defensemen on their active roster right now...probably just a big nothingburger.

That's the perception, but LA has surprised in how well they're doing.

They botched Fiala and Dubois, but also signed Gavrikov and Foegele. Realizing Dubois didn't work out, they traded that anchor contract into goaltending that fixed a major hole.

That said, if there's any chance on a Miller for Clarke swap, pursue it with much fervor. Clarke isn't that far off from Power, if at all, and he has that right shot that is so highly sought after.

Added bonus: We could have Miller/Pettersson 2.0 with Hughes/Clarke. joke

Power >>> Clarke
Cosens <<< Byfield.

Probably not getting Power or Byfield for Petey.
It’s funny because Power / Byfield feel like very similar players, and Clarke / Cozens the same, just playing opposite positions.

I agree you’re probably not getting either Byfield or Power but between the two I’d lean to the LA package because you avoid the risk with Cozens’ contract.
