Excuse the formatting. I don't know how to imbed those fancy Capfriendly grids on my phone.

But I wanted to see what it looks like if we can't get rid of Mikheyev, but still added Guentzel and Zadorov. It's doable, but leaves some holes in the roster. Especially weak down the middle, so would probably need to find a cheap C to replace Karlsson, Bains or PDG. Also possible we find a 1 year/$1m reclamation project to replace one of those guys (especially a C).

But I could get a 23 man roster out of it so there's that I guess.

So as per E. Friedman, the orcas and General Zad are talking about contracts again, and it appears that things are moving along.

Promising news. I have never felt this antsy about an UFA before.

Signing Tanev would right such an epic wrong. If he wants to come back and will take a hometown discount, you absolutely have to sign him. He’s a great veteran and would stabilize the top four.

I don’t see how they have that cap space if they’re serious about retaining Zadorov, and want to add an impact forward. If they don’t sign Guentzel or similar, that’s a different story they could spread that salary around.

It's true. Hard to see how Hronek, Zad, Tanev and Guentzel all fit in, not to mention the likes of Myers and Blueger.

Even if Mikheyev goes with no retention or salary back, they would still probably have to move Garland to make it work. And there goes our forward depth.

Works fine, even with no real UFA discounts. About 750k in cap space. There would have to be some discounts to afford Blueger.

Whether it’s a well functioning team, that’s another matter. But that’s a really strong defense corp. Moving Poolman would also help the team accrue cap to go shopping later in the season.

No 13th forward? We’ve at least gotta have one extra body up front imo

If they do re-sign Zadorov—keeping Myers and his size becomes less of a priority.

Frankly, I'd rather see them invest in a Tanev or Carrier with that extra $1.5m than simply insert Myers back into the fold.

The ultimate Vegas/Tampa LTIR arc:
  • Trade Ilya Mikheyev for Logan Couture's contract.
  • Let Couture rehab (again) on LTIR all season.
  • Then bring him back for the playoffs.
  • Simply win a cup.
  • Ignore the haters.
Rinse/Repeat for the next three years or until Couture simply retires.

BTW this isn't serious before someone quotes me.
