They've already photoshopped him in a Rangers jersey:

I don't know why you guys are happy about getting a terrible return for a 1st liner.
Don’t think anyone is happy about that. But I am definitely happy this high school drama is over. Very happy actually. Maybe we can see some resemblance of a hockey team that plays for one another. Maybe?

I don’t know but it was quite exhausting to constantly read this shit about these two.

Glad it soon will be over but expecting a dismal return. Now it’s up to EP to prove he can be a franchise center like he’s paid to be or we move on from him too.
Hope the team responds well tonight and can keep the streak going.
Going to miss JT. A heart and soul go for us but something was missing this year.

It's more about how the player is projected to play into the future than career points.

At the end of the day I wouldn't want to sign either player to those respective contracts, and Meier's contract hasn't aged very well so it's probably more of a warning than anything.

Fair contracts don't turn into cautionary tales.

I can understand that you don't like either player for the money, but liking the player comes second to the ability to beat the efficiency he provides. Or, is projected to provide. Meier's is on a fair-ish contract. $0.5m too rich per Dom's model. That's a bet I'd be willing to make again today (rising cap).

You said you like Ehlers and Marner (I do too). Ehlers should get $8.6m+ (Dom's model) for being worse in G/GP and P/GP than Boeser. Marner will ensure his cap hit erodes his surplus value. I'd take either regardless, but the uncertainty of landing them mixed with the certainty Boeser provides now: No contest for me.

Anyway, good chat.
