It upsets me that they are even entertaining re-signing Boeser. They HAVE to trade him to have any hope of being competitive moving forward. He is not what they need in the top 6. They need speed and forechecking ability with top 6 skill.

The boat has sailed on Pettersson. I wanted him traded before he was signed. Now they have no choice to try and rehab him first into a marketable product.

I suspect the Canucks will go to 6 years, and then Boeser is just weighing 6 with Vancouver vs. maybe someone offering up 7 on the open market.

Personally, I think if the Canucks go to 6, it gets done. And I can live with that. We're talking about a $1.25M AAV increase during a rising cap environment for a guy who's dependably put up 25-30 goals while also being a good dressing room guy and playoff performer. And I just don't see how we replace that without spending either the exact same or more on someone else in free agency, especially not on one who's not a fair bit older than Brock, who's still just 28.

I think it's a bit easy to dismiss him right now with pretty much the whole team underachieving offensively, but I think it'd be something we'd regret if we let him walk.

I'm at the point where it doesn't really make a difference where we go with Boeser.

You keep him and you maybe expect him to fall off in his early 30's but it really won't matter because it's very likely this franchise will be in the middle of a rebuild.

You trade him and then plug the holes in the top 6 with quantity rather than quality (ie. R. Smith, Nyquist). who may struggle to be .5 PPG players.

The next seven days are going to be pure chaos and I cannot wait for the action to start, probably tonight.
100% multiple trades are going down before the weekend is over.

It's unbelievable that we're here staring a complete implosion in the face after what was accomplished last season. We've all seen seasons that go badly for good teams, but I can't recall one being cooked by your the best players themselves and career ending injuries to your fantastic goalie.

Rick Dhaliwal's interview with Halford & Brough.

Elias Pettersson, Forward
  • Last time he had more than 1 shot in a game was over a month ago
  • Struggling offensively so not getting offensive zone starts
  • Have tried to fix Pettersson; probably sat him down 100 times and talked to him
Canucks’ Roster
  • Looking for a #2 centre
  • So many things up in the air
  • All their UFAs, and Carson Soucy, could be in play
  • Don’t know if the Canucks will sell or buy
Suter
  • No progress in contract talks; don’t expect any movement with him
  • Next contract is in the 3m plus range
  • The two sides are talking, however
Boeser
  • Can’t report progress but also isn’t going sideways
  • Canucks don’t want to do 7-8 years but are willing to do 5-6 years
  • Was told there’s a long-term deal that both sides will be happy with; wonders if that’s at 6 years
  • Concerns with his skating in the latter years of his next contract
  • Has heard that Boeser feels disrespected at times; Allvin always gives him backhanded compliments
  • Has heard about teams interested in Boeser if he becomes a UFA
  • One team told him that the trade market is very quiet because prices are very high
Lankinen
  • Signed him in 12 hours after re-starting talks
  • First offer was 3.9m in January
Demko
  • Was on the ice multiple times this week
  • Wouldn’t be surprising if he was back next week
Juulsen
  • Had been dealing with a nagging injury
  • Will have surgery soon and most likely he’s out for the season
  • With Willander and Mancini, the Canucks right side is getting crowded
  • Canuck fans need to be classier; shouldn’t rip him apart on the day he finds out he’s out for the season
  • Coaching staff and teammates love him
  • Last time he was a UFA he told his agent to only sign in Vancouver; had 6-7 teams calling him
Forbort
  • Canucks might extend him if they don’t trade him
  • Love his size and PK ability
Soucy
  • On the trade block but he doesn’t want to be traded
Minor League Defensive Depth
  • Every defenceman in Abbotsford is either a UFA or RFA (Kudryavtsev is signed for the next two seasons and Sawyer Mynio will come to the AHL once his season is done so there’s two projected defencemen under contract for next season)

Trade Market
  • Teams are waiting on clarity on Mikko Rantanen and Brock Nelson
  • Islanders will only add if they think they can win; difficult to predict what they’ll do; teams think Nelson will be available
  • Jake Evans, Yanni Gourde, and Scott Laughton are available
  • Blues will trade Brayden Schenn if a team meets their demands; thinks Maple Leafs really want him
  • Teams want Easton Cowan, Fraser Minten, Ben Danford, and 2026 1st rounder from the Maple Leafs
  • A lot of the rental players have a similar price with Laughton being a bit higher because he’s not a rental
  • Mentions Nick Bjugstad and Luke Kunin
  • Teams like Tommy Novak and were disappointed he wasn’t made available before signing his contract; his name is out there
  • Doesn’t know how much interest there would be in Alexandar Georgiev
Boeser
  • Doesn’t think the negotiations are over and Boeser wants to stay
  • When a team starts at 5 years, it says that they won’t go to 7 or 8 but could go to 6
  • His current AAV is 6.65m and on a 5-6 year deal he would get a raise but not outrageously more; not going from 6.65m to 10m
  • Comes down to how you structure the deal

Reactions: Mr. Canucklehead
That's a few times now that we have heard about some level of disrespect from management by players. Horvat, Zadorov and now Boeser. We have all heard the disrespect in the news about Bruce and being critical of Pettersson very openly(warranted). I don't mind them not just laying over like JB did all the time but patterns.

Washington Capitals
  • Looking to acquire depth players at forward and defence
  • Veteran players that player a two-way game
  • Mentions Jake Evans and Joel Armia
Philadelphia Flyers
  • If someone meets the asking price, will trade Scott Laughton and Rasmus Ristolainen
  • More teams interested in Laughton than Ristolainen
  • Senators, Maple Leafs, and Devils are some of the teams that have expressed interest in Laughtong; Flyers are asking for a 1st round draft pick or an equivalent prospect
Tampa Bay Lightning
  • Looking for a depth centre; mentions Yanni Gourde
  • Would like to add another defenceman
Toronto Maple Leafs
  • Brayden Schenn is on their radar; don’t want to give up their 2026 1st
  • If they trade any of their top prospects, it will be for a player with term
Vancouver Canucks
  • Everything is possible with the Canucks
  • Are still far apart in Boeser negotiations with respect to term
  • Don’t see a pathway to an extension before the deadline

Miller was Kesler all over again

You can’t get a franking return when he says he’ll only accept one team

Colorado would probably win the cup and Mackinnon would tel Miller to Shut the Frank up

I'm 100% convinced B Schenn or both Schenns will end up in Toronto by end of day next Friday.

Brock Boeser
  • Would be amenable to a slightly shorter contract if the AAV is larger
  • Canucks are firm on their desire for a 4-5 year contract
  • One source said “He’ll have his pick of destinations in the summerif he gets there,”
  • Ownership greatly values playoff revenue so the Canucks may keep him past the TDL
  • Compares his trade value to Jake Guentzel’s last season but slightlyless
  • Kings, Devils, and Senators are linked to him
  • Wouldn’t be surprising if the Wild try to acquire him
Carson Soucy
  • Canucks sent a fax to 31 teams telling them that Soucy is available
  • Should be a market for him since he is signed for next season
  • Both Canucks and Soucy’s representatives have been working hard to find a trade but haven’t gained any traction
  • Flames make sense; suggests a player-for-player swap
Elias Pettersson (you know the one)
  • Still an appetite to acquire him around the league
  • One source said “This would be the worst time to try and get value for him.”
  • Says the best and current course is to hold on to him and if he can’t turn his season around, his name will pop up in trade talks around the draft

Pius Suter would gather some decent assets to a contender like Washington. We should do it if they’ll cough up something like a 2nd+.

Confirmed: JR has banned everyone in the Canucks organization from using a fancy new computer thingy or a cellular device.

When I lived in Japan, I had to use a fax machine. I was furious. This was 2011 and I lived in the most advanced country on the planet. My stupid-ass employer forced us to fax everything.
