I think management views Lekkerimaki as untouchable so highly doubt he’s included in any trade anyway.

If Ott was smart they’d dump Norris to open up cap, which is what they reportedly have been trying to do all year.

Do the Canucks make another mega-deal before the TDL? Not convinced they have the assets left to do much.
About the only guys potentially on the block--other than draft picks--would be Boeser and possibly Soucy. Although Soucy has a full NTC and would have to waive to go anywhere. Forbort might be attractive as a rental on an expiring contract.
But other than Boeser, I doubt the d-men fetch very much. So it's hard to Allvin doing much more than a little 'tinkering' by the March 7th deadline.

repost but we got to petition for the nhl to make the salary cap to move up proportionately depending on a teams home state/province income tax. why do some teams effectively have way larger caps then others? im not sure exactly how it should be structured, like maybe you just get paid a flat amount pre tax and the nhl team covers the taxes. i dont know man but something has to be done

Canucks ought to use some of their extra cap-space and their last salary retention slot this TDL to farm a draft pick or two. They can help other teams retain on an acquisition or take a bad expiring contract or two back.
It is going to be tough to spend all of that $16m deadline cap space.
Unless they plan to use that space to quickly consummate deals while other clubs are struggling to find retention partners.

I don't mind the idea of trading for pure rental players. That's why Gustav Nyquist does sound like a good option to me. Nyquist has skills and experience to help out going forward. The best part he is on a expiring contract.
Cap space is the most valuable asset to have going forward. It will allow Allvin to go big game hunting on July 1st. The Nucks haven't had cap space in years so expiring contracts that can help out short term would be best going forward.

I like Nyquist as a buy-low option, too. I also think his speed really jives with the way the Canucks are trying to play (Chytil and O’Connor gave big injections of speed into the forward group).

Nyquist sucks. He's a career 50 pt player. Soft. He had an outlier year with 75 pts last year but now he's back to his normal 15 goal season.
I want us to target size and speed, not a player that you'll ask if they even played from night to night.
