Guentzel:
-Canucks would rather not give up the draft picks to get his negotiating rights
-Hurricanes still trying to sign him

Blueger:
-talks continue with him
-thinks the Canucks have identified him as a guy they want back with Lindholm gone

Zadorov:
-Milstein is willing to be patient and open-minded
-Zadorov really wants to come back to Vancouver
-thinks the Canucks are trying to clear up cap space to bring him back

Myers:
-a lot of work to do

Chatfield:
-knows if he hit UFA the Canucks would have been in on him

Jani Hakanpaa:
-keep an eye on him if he hits the market

Alexandre Carrier:
-another guy the Canucks are interested in

Hakanpaa and Carrier = yes and yes.

If the Canucks really only have around $3 million earmarked to spend on 2nd pair right defensemen. I think Carrier will out of the price range. Especially with the Chatfield contract.

I have no idea what to make of his market. He should be paid very well but he's undersized.

Hakanpaa was a guy I had circled as a potential discount-Zadorov replacement, along with Desharnais.

I wonder what Carrier's price-tag would be.

AFP has him at around 3x$4M AAV:

This seems about right, I think it'll drift a touch higher in term and AAV due to scarcity.

How the hell did Mikheyev get any sort of trade protection?

I had no idea he got any because it was an overpayment to begin with so I assumed No trade protection

Brutal contract from this management

SJ and NYR just showed how NTCs can be circumvented. Wonder how happy Goodrow was with that.

Basically every single UFA signing of any ability gets trade protection.

You probably won't see a single signing over a $4 million AAV on July 1 that doesn't include it.

The Guentzel back up plan?

Carolina signs Necas, the Canucks trade Demko to Carolina for Necas +? Silovs and Mikheyev/Garland for Necas? Maybe those as a trade and getting Guentzel.

Sign Zadorov, Myers and Dillion/other huge RHD.

Goalie whisperer Clarke, Silovs and Topolio are ready to share as 1A/1B Or resign DeSmith cheap and go Silovs as 1 and DeSmith as backup with a very stout defence.

When Seattle had their huge defence they got by with lesser goaltending than Silovs provided the Nux.
