No, just wondering why its considered such an absolute negative if once upon a time a kid played a season with the coach here or there.

It's a sweeping general negative from the moment go, vs a case by case approach...THAT's the pathetic part.

Ah well...

I'll just continue to look forward to the informative and well thought out 'Benning's boys' posts over and over i guess.

It's in no way something that was a sweeping generalization from the moment go. How is that even plausible? I would love for you to defend such a ridiculous comment.

It is, rather, a clear trend that has been established over the past two years that if anything has gotten stronger with time.

If it doesn't concern you then fine. I'd like us to broaden our pool of players beyond Boston/Calgary castoffs and busted prospects from Willie's glory days in junior. Pathetic, yeah. Sure.

Again, in a vacuum, in some specific cases it might not be a negative.

But all of those players (save Baertschi) have been overpaid for and then absolutely sucked. When there seems to be a pattern of identifying a target based primarily on the fact that you 'know him real good' rather than his hockey-playing ability, it's a major problem. Especially when you then pay a premium for those guys.

If you want to include minor league guys, then Jeffrey, Valk, Hamilton, Bancks, Blair Jones, Bachman, and Lafranchise have all played under one of Benning, Desjardins, or Weisbord. Admittedly it's pretty trivial at that point.

Every post I read of yours writes off the opposing commentary as being "in a vauum."

Why do you keep avoiding my question? If Benning is such a draft guru, how come adding more draft picks would be problematic?

Did he say specifically that this would be "problematic" or are you twisting his words to fit your commentary?

Berglund has been playing pretty well, if only garrison and his ntc didn't screw us over

Would've prevented us from pursuing Bonino and Sutter.

Too bad Benning didn't ask Garrison before trading him causing him to panic and getting only a 2nd in return.

What difference would it have made if he asked him first?

I think most management teams would deny rumors of a new boss coming in and taking power away.

That's why I added FWIW, there's not many rumours that come out about Vancouver that are right but it's offseason so at least it's something different to follow.

What exactly is the rumour? That he'd replace BI enning? That he'd replace linden? That Benning would replace linden? I don't get it.

I think the rumour was that he'd supplement the current regime. Obviously Aqualini is feeling some external PR pressure to reaassure fans that the team has proper direction.
