just watched the sportsnet feed to figure out the myers thing. i don't think myers saw the garland thing. he had something going on with bouchard on their board battle.

bouchard had his stick up when myers checked him on the boards just as the whistle went and he did something to myers that caused myers to turn back as he came off the check and give bouchard a two handed slash that looked like a retaliation. at that point bouchard closed on myers and got a stick in the chops. still a suspension but it looks like bouchard might have speared him first.

Crosby had this type of whiny baby stuff and grew out of it by ~25.

Watched some highlights.

Same problems remain, still a good win, especially consider McDavid's cross check on Garland. I highly, HIGHLY doubt that he'll get anything more than a pat on the back by the league. This is Hairy Buttman we're talking about here, and the whole league is all too eager line up and suck McDavid's dick.

Miller had a good show, of course. Not sure why he's not bringing that kind of intensity to more games.

Most hockey fans are hypocrites just like the players are. If we had McDavid we'd do the same or even worse since anytime someone sneezes near Hughes there are canuck fans who cry murder. Let's not forget that most canucks fans loved Cooke and Raffi Torres. We cheered when Torres demolished Saebrock with a dirty hit but when Big Buff was giving us the business we did not like it.

There were a lot of people that called out Cooke on his BS., and Cooke wasn't as popular as you think he was. Neither was Brashear for that matter and both played lengthy on the Canucks.

Draisaitl handled the post game interview quite well, he brushed off the late game chaos question and gave a very simple answer.

The coach said oh McDavid the best player in the world was held for almost 15 seconds blah blah blah. I had a look at the replay again, first McDavid basically sat on top of Garland for 5-6 seconds, then Garland and McDavid got tangled up for about the same amount of time. And of course, that justified the cross check on Garland's face with the stick.

That first period! Wow. Skinner kept the Oilers in it early (Demko looked shaky on the first 2 goals). Both our Star centres played with a ton of effort tonight, Miller was a beast defensively and had 2 points to go along with 18 out of 22 face-off wins. Pettersson was engaged, playing physical, winning puck battles. Let’s go!

On the other, he has been able to shine from the shadow of McDavid, even outplaying him many times. Insane playoff numbers with serious injuries. Pretty much single handedly won the series against us.

Don't know what both fanbases were watching to be honest.

Both teams got away with 1 penalty and all the ones that were called were good calls.

This was not a poorly officiated game, at least by NHL standards.

I mean Petey held, then McD held. First guy to cross-check someone in the head was McBaby. So that's where some of the animosity is coming from in this scenario. But both Myers and McD should be suspended, no way McD gets more than a couple games. I just hope Myers doesn't get a longer suspension because that'd be clear bias.

GDT threads of calling the other team's star players whiny or divers, dirty plays by the other team, refs are terrible and let the other team get away with so much, disappointed in their own team's performance, calling out their own players not doing enough, calling the other team's fanbase the most annoying in the entire league, etc.

Sound familiar? We're yelling at a mirror.

It's all fun to be passionate about our favourite team, but just wondering if anyone legitimately doesn't see this.... lol (And it's no different with Leaf fanbase either).

Why in earth what you even spend time of your own accord visiting the Oilers board of all boards? Yikes.

While they are similar attitudes in the examples you laid out, the fact is the other fanbase is far more rigorous to this type of vitriolic biased bullshit behavior, they take it to an extreme level of homerism and bias especially these past few years after some play-off success. We can acknowledge this as much, and call them out for being braindead. Can you comprehend that?

MS's reaction to their GDT is very appropriate.
Heck not even just their GDTS but they spread their filth on the main boards.

McDavid would rightfully be called out for what he did tonight, if he was part of this team while the other boards would instead turn a blind eye and defend him. There's a difference.

Several posters have already stated Myers should be suspended for the face shot on Bouchard as well.
