Thank you Captain Obvious. Any more revelations you care to share with us

Nope, just telling you how it is. Laffs suck and will never win a cup the way the team is constructed, can't even win a playoff round. Maybe they should be rewarded a tinfoil cup for elite regular season play...

if you aren't willing to qualify him at that hit, he can get to the open market. why would a team spend the assets to acquire him and then risk to lose him for nothing?

Who said we're not willing to qualify him? It's a marginal raise over his current cap hit. I'm just hoping for him signing for a lower hit with a longer term. His QO isn't amazing, but it's not bad or a negative.

and why the rumblings, that he is available?

He very well might be. Miller too. Pettersson was earlier in the year to. Except Miller, they have had rough starts to the year, and our new management would theoretically make everyone available, for the right price.

I'm personally quite happy keeping our best players and deep sixing some of our overpaid depth in stead, and I don't think I'm alone there.

But a Boeser trade rumour is way more interesting for all of then Pearson or Dickinson being available.

That uncertainty with what he will command hurts his value. It will be close to the 7.5 number you’d think . That’s pretty steep for what he currently brings to the table but his potential could make it a bargain ?
It’s Boeser’s play this year , injury history , qualifying $ that makes a Zacha plus ? trade even remotely possible. In a vacuum, Boeser is >>>> Zacha by a large margin.
We understand that Boeser's qualifying offer hurts his value. The thing is though, if the Canucks shopped Boeser as a pure rental, we should be able to do better than Zacha. As a pure rental+the possibility that he take a long term deal under his qualifying offer with his new team (something like 6.5mx5), his value should be a 1st+okay prospect to some playoff team. Canucks could also easily retain. Throw in a 5th round pick to a team like Arizona if double retention is needed.

Where is Boeser in the rumour???
boeser was brought up as a potential return (doesn't matter by whom). if he doesn't fit for one of the sides, you turn to other assets. but the rumour is not, new jersey wants to acquire boeser. there is no need to say boeser requires asset xy.

zacha is not sufficient as the main piece to justify boeser as a return is totally fine. but changing the tune to new jersey needs to make asset xy available in a trade thread, where vancouver seems to have interest in zacha just screams pissing match.

How is Zacha's skating? Cant say ive watched too much of his game lately.

Rutherford just said straight up , if you dont have a combination of skating and skill then Canucks arent interested.

Zacha sucks. Any deal that is him for Boeser as the main pieces is a massive L for Vancouver

Zacha is an excellent skater... definitely has the skill... consistency and not using his big frame are his two biggest issues.

Virtanen did not have "the skills"... If youre looking for a Virtanen comparison with the Devils then its easily Michael Mcleod
I didn't say "exact" now did I? Having some size, speed, and skill but failing to use it consistently and being tunnel-visioned isn't dissimilar.

The reason Zacha has been a Devil and playing in the NHL since he was drafted is because when he's "on" he can easily be the best player on the team.

I can definitely see the Canucks being interested in Zacha if his skating is above average.

The only issue is what would the Canucks give up to get Zacha.

Canucks arent going to move draft picks.

Devils probably dont want complimentary players like Dickenson Pearson, Motte, Schenn.

Are the Devils willing to massively add a ++ to get Boeser or Miller for a Zacha trade?

I just dont know what a Zacha to Canucks trade would look like?

Well the Devils have been reportedly interested in Boeser and Garland.

If it's Boeser coming back the other way, you're looking at Zacha, Reilly Walsh (our best right handed D prospect) and a high pick I would imagine.

I'm pretty sure the Devils aren't trading their first round (TOP10 or even TOP5) picks for Boeser.

Don't see what's wrong with me saying that. It's not my fault if it hurts Devil's fans' feelings to say that Boeser wouldn't be traded for spare parts after they make pretty much EVERYTHING enticing off limits.

What I've said is strengthened by the fact that apparently Boeser would garner a bigger return than what Toffoli just got.
