According to The Hockey News Stefan Rosner, per industry sources, the Canucks have targeted Noah Dobson.

Rosner implies that NYI wouldnt be interested in JT Miller but perhaps more so Elias Pettersson.

Rosner's proposal:

1st rnd pick
Dobson
Cszikas
Engvall

for

Pettersson

Expensive d-core for Vancouver if they do this.

Plus Willander would be a target 100% for the islanders as a return.

You don’t just give up a right shot defenceman and not say give us your best prospect

A smart move is targeting a strong left side defenceman under contract to play with Willander

Then your top 4 is cemented for years

I’m interested in Dobson too, doesn’t mean anything. I might be in the minority but if I’m the canucks I’d rather get rid of Petersson than Miller. Millers a dog and pettersson shys away when the games mean the most/ever since he got paid

Seems to me both teams have massive holes after this trade. Canucks at Center and Islanders at RD. Cszikas & Engvall are not going to address the Canucks center needs

Interesting developments nonetheless.

Canucks would have 2x 1st round picks to use as Ammo to obtain a 2C elsewhere. Not to mention prospects like Willander and Lekkerimaki.

I'm being told the Canucks want to remain competitive. The reply you just gave me indicates they are OK with a little setback for a few years before the youth emerges.

Habs have 2 1st round picks and are looking for a 2C as well. Is it that easy to get a 2C when you need it? Guess I have been living under a rock. :sarcasm:

Willander would be off the table.

The idea is Dobson + for Pettersson

Canucks D Core would be set for a decade.

Hughes- Hronek
Mynio-Dobson
Pettersson (dman)- Willander

willander's great but you're saying he's off the table for a better player at the same position and then pencilling him into the third pair for a decade lol

the amount of value he'd be able to deliver would be capped by his role.

I would love to target Dobson, but not if we add Cszikas and engvall's cap in the deal.

A 1st unprotected + Dobson + UFA Nelson would be something I would do honestly.

Don't care much for dobson.

Definitely would prefer the thing being throwing around earlier with a deal built around cozens+byram for petterson.
I still feel that a 1st (Top 10 protected) JJ Peterka and Byram for Pettersson works well for both teams.
