I'm sure they do.

I'm not sure why the Islanders would move him though.

Dobson + Barzal for EP + Tom Willander + Jonathan Lekkerimäki

Vancouver can toss in a dump contract to make the AAVs work.

NYIs become a bottom 3 NHL team instantly and can start to rebuild via the 2025 draft and the two young prospects from Vancouver.

Vancouver moves on from an enigmatic 1C, lands a top pair D in his prime and an awesome skating low end 1C that is from the area.

Who says no? I think it's the NYIs.

We are NOT trading Brazal and Dobson to Van....Stop! Not happening. Maybe one but I think it's a mistake. I'm holding on to Dobson and Brazal for the new GM and coach to decide on our direction and what players they want to keep.

again, we are not giving up a top 5 pick in this draft...don't care if it's EP
And people wonder why the NYI are a constantly middling team eh?

I would love to target Dobson, but not if we add Cszikas and engvall's cap in the deal.

A 1st unprotected + Dobson + UFA Nelson would be something I would do honestly.
I mean, yeah, I'm sure you would do it if you removed the dumps on the Isles side and added two pieces worth a fair bit, but there's little to no reason for the Isles to do that.

The 2025 1st rounder is too much for the Engvall cap dump, because I'm thinking:

Dobson + Cizikas + 2nd
for
Pettersson

would be more palatable considering how how the 2025 NYI 1st could be

Love dobson but how effective would he be not being the go-to guy? PP2 and 2nd pair. Canucks also then have a huge hole at center. Not to mention there's gotta be more palatable ways to balance the cap than Engvall.
I mean he’s not great defensivley, and most of his points come off of the PP so they’d for sure take a massive hit.

I don’t understand it from the Canucks POV. So much of Dobson’s value comes from being a PP QB, something he won’t do in Vancouver unless they go old school with two dmen on the PP.

The Canucks need puck movers, but this is likely too much of a luxury add. The type of player the Canucks should look for are more similar to Hanafin than Dobson.

It’s an interesting switch up for the Canucks, and probably ok for both value wise, but it seems like a weird mix for the Isles given the best asset they would gain would be a guy in the middle of his prime, but then it also makes them worse in the short term. I feel like usually this type of deal would have the established players be the Willander and Lek value players and the prospect would be a Pettersson value player.

I just don't really see how they could do a Pettersson deal with the Islanders and not get Barzal back the other way. Aside from that, it just leaves such a gaping hole at Center for the Canucks. But at the point, it becomes an absolute mega blockbuster deal if you're trying to get Dobson and Barzal. That's probably Pettersson + Willander + as a starting point.

The team needs puck movers but is also struggling defensively as well, which isn’t something Dobson is going to significantly improve. They could really use someone who can do both, like the Ekholm deal for Edmonton, though those don’t come around often. It’s also why moving Willander would be hard to swallow because he projects to be someone who can be a strong two way guy 5v5 who doesn’t need PP1 time.

Canucks are very very high on Willander and rightfully so. Comparison wise, pundits have compared his game to Mcavoy/Faber. Will probably be a top pairing partner for Q Hughes for the next decade.

They probably see him being as good as Dobson in 2/3 yrs.

Barzal is nowhere near as good as EP and is also a free agent in 3 yrs.

Barzal 27 yrs old vs EP 26 yrs old Career:

Goals
Barzal: 0.25 goals /game ( 22 goals -high)
EP: .40 goals /game ( 39 goals- high)

Assists:

Barzal - 0.60 Assists/game (63 Assists - high)
Pettersson - 0.58 Assist/game ( 63 Assist- high)

Lekkerimaki leads the Canucks AHL team in goals and points in his 20 yr old season after winning WJC MVP last year. He also led the u18 Worlds in points 2 years ago.

but you think its NYI that will say no?

I do.

Dobson is a top pair guy entering his prime and Barzal is 1C that's 27.

EP isn't playing to his AAV and he's been stagnant since the all star break of last season. I don't know what's wrong with him. His GM is unhappy and saying so publicly. His value isn't peak right now and you know this. There are more than a few Vancouver fans that would be relieved to move on from him.

Lekkerimaki is a good, not great prospect. A-/B+ guy. I see a ceiling of 2 wing, but middle six guy may be maxing out.

Willander - he's a big part of the base. He's good. I agree.

You know who else are good. Dobson and Barzal. Win now move for Vancouver to max out JT Miller's prime.

Regal above is a Vancouver fan and he thought I was on target with value. I don't think I'm off by much if I am.

Weird proposal by Rosner.

I’d trade Pulock before Dobson honestly.

If I’m Vancouver though I’d probably trade JT miller before Pety because of age.

Is the rumored Pety and JT miller rift really that serious? I thought it was Horvat and Miller and they moved Horvat?

I feel like if VAN was going to trade Pety they would wait to do so after the season

Rosner is a massive fraud.
He’s better than Andrew Gross atleast. I think there’s more sane people who rent rooms at the Coliseum Motor Inn weekly though then good takes he’s had in total.

Our top 2 Centres both 32+? Miller and Nelson with no Centre prospect in the pipeline.. Not so sure about that. Plus Nelson could walk. Seems like a short sighted move.

Id rather do Barzal Dobson for Petterson and 1st.
That would be insane for NYI to do, never gonna happen. Nucks fans are gonna be so disappointed in the eventual return for EP if this is the expectation.

Doesn't make much sense. Another journo trying to get some clout from the drama that's been strummed up. They're like piranhas in a feeding frenzy. Anything for that next click.
