Rumor: Canucks going after Rossi?

Only if Vancouver wants out of the E. Pettersson business, and if we're comfortable that we can fix whatever the heck happened to him.

And how exactly would that make sense for us? Everything the Wild have said, and done, has essentially been to shit on Rossi. His deployment in the playoffs, what Guerin has said publicly, to what he has said privately (Rossi cannot be successful in the playoffs) - why would we trade what is our franchise player for someone who is so obviously on the trading block, and can likely be had for a 1st + a B-level prospect?

Huh? Minnesota doesn't even want this pick in this draft? How is this too much? a prosect and a pick Mn wants nothing to do with in this draft? They are looking for a win now mood or are prepared to let him get offersheet

Yep. A lot of VAN fans are turning their noses up at futures. They want a win now player in return.

"If Vancouver wants out..." kind of means that they wouldn't really consider him their franchise player anymore. It was a highly dependent statement.

If Vancouver thinks Rossi is a "tremendous player" like in the OP, they might not care how much Minnesota is shitting on him.

Van management seems to not mind futures. They take them and use them as assets to get the type of players they want.
Rossi just doesn’t fit the profile though of what Van management targets. They like taller (heavier) players.

"Only if Vancouver wants out of the E. Pettersson business" kind of implies that's what you'd want for Rossi lmao - pretty convenient to leave out the "only" part which does quite a bit of the heavy lifting in the original quote - not realistic.

I'm not sure if you've been paying attention to the league but teams don't really value players as much who are small - especially those who are short. Rossi is 5'9. He's not a bad player, I think he's pretty good as he's not someone that needed to play alongside of Kaprizov/Boldy to do good, but the reality is if Rossi was over 6 foot, there would be a huge lineup of teams interested. Unfortunately, he is not.

Did he play poorly towards the end of the season and that's why he got the 3rd lwaat amount of ice time in the playoffs?

He had a really bad month of March, he was also battling an injury that he played through during that time. In the playoffs, he had a pretty bad game 1, and the coach dropped him down to the fourth line. After that he got much better, but was never moved back up, despite two-thirds of the middle six ahead of him being worse than he was.

I'm not sure if you paid attention to the OP, but it seems your team might.

I wasn't talking about straight up.

I always assumed this rumour of the Wild not liking Rossi was because of the ice time he got.

At least that's what seems to get referenced the most.

I mean it's take Elias out regardless, there is no deal out there that makes sense for us. You bet all day that the 26-year old with fantastic underlying numbers who has been a stud every season up until this season will bounce back.
The guy who's scored more than 66 points twice in his 7 year career? What a stud

Ban has to shop in the bin with players who will have flaws, that lower the cost to acquire, but provide upside if all things work out for them. Rossi (imo) fits that profile. I’m pretty sure they will compare his cost and Zacha and ??? Then decide which is the best risk for the potential reward, considering the cost and contract.

Lekkerimaki a good fit for MN from skillset perspective, but they already expect to have Buium, Yurov, Ohgren, Wallstedt, Jiricek playing regular minutes. That’d be a lot of rookies.

I can see these teams having mutual interest :

To Vancouver: Rossi, 2027 3rd

To Minny: 2026 2nd, Mynio, Bains, Kunz, 2027 6th

Rossi then signs 8 years at $7 million/season. Also a possibility is rights to Brock Boeser in the trade as well so Minny can sign their homeboy to a 8 year contract.

Win win
