It’s going to be Woodcroft ain’t it.
No way and this makes no sense. Why would Canucks fans (who paid enough attention to the draft to attend the draft) be shocked at the selection of Pods thinking he would be gone already. If Pods was the popular choice most would have crossed their fingers and cheered when he was selected. This was not the case. It's like if we selected Kopitar instead of Bourdon (RIP) and saying the initial fan reaction from GM Place would have been shock "because everyone expected him to be gone already."
Acquire all the players Tocchet wants and trot them out against him.
Sorry you're right, what I experienced first hand is wrong.
What you experienced doesn't mean it reflects reality or what "everyone" experienced. How do you know that "everyone expected him to be gone already" and that "Everyone was focused on the US hockey guys around our pick?" You don't and it makes no sense to me given the pre-draft discussions here and elsewhere.
You're right I wasn't able to personally poll everyone in the arena, Vancouver, and the world.
I should have known that that's what you expected.
I expect a long time poster like you to be more informed and not mistake the initial shock from fans in reaction to the Canucks picking Pods as everyone being shocked that he was available.
Man...you've misread his initial post so bad that it's made you look like a complete jackass here.
yeah the whole situation just seems absurd lolHow so? He said "There was shock when Podkolzin's name was called because everyone expected him to be gone already. Everyone was focused on the US hockey guys around our pick."
Were you shocked that we picked Podkolzin because you expected him to be gone and so you werent even thinking of him? Are you suggesting that the "shock" that was easily heard inside the stadium when the pick was announced was because "everyone expected him to be gone already" and so "everyone was focused on the US hockey guys?"
C'mmon, if Podkolzin was some sort of clearcut BPA who happened to drop in the draft, Canucks fans would be holding their breath hoping the Canucks select him and not "shocked" because they weren't even thinking of him.
Shockey/Surprise that the Canucks picked him doesn't mean shock/surprised that he was still available to be picked.
