it being a factor is just a lame ass excuse. society still frowns on people chasing money, the whole back and forth has always been about money since the very beginning. When you are one of only two teams without one, and multiple reporters say that this WAS a factor for Tocchet, trying to pretend otherwise is just playing ignorant.
A practice facility is literally the main workplace for the coach and the players. You can put yourself into their shoes.
No way …. that’s way too many Canadians ….. we already have two…Welp, just about time to start daydreaming about crashing out, getting McKenna and having Bedard come to play with his cousin.
yeah Petey bouncing back and the team performing is probably more important in keeping Hughes. players know that coaches don't last anyways and the odds of Tocc surviving in any coaching capacity for over like 3-4 more years is really slim. Players sticking around is more of a likelihood.Mixed emotions
Sucks:
- Hughes loves him and this staff, this hurts our odds of retaining Hughes
- This staff brought in strong defensive structure, seemed to be doing a good job of coaching dmen, thsat raised the floor for this team
- Bad look to the rest of the league that Tocchet left
- Yet another head coach in such a short span
Optimistic:
- I think Petey's chances of rebounding improve if the next coach is more open to east-west hockey and offensive freedom. Petey rebounding is basically mandatory if you want to keep Hughes.
- As stated above, there's a chance for more offensive upside with a new coach for the team as a whole, the point shots with traffic strategy limited this team's offensive ceiling
- This management got the Tocchet hiring right, Malhotra also looks like a solid AHL hire so they've shown that they can identify quality coaches.
What do you mean it's a lame excuse? The lack of a practice facility affects his job EVERY DAY, whereas with literally any other team (outside of Calgary), it doesn't. It's a clear downgrade to your daily work. Imagine if you are a standard office worker, and you would have to work in a different office multiple times a week? Not only that, you have to go to a meeting to the other side of the town, and maybe you need to do some more office work at another place so that's 3 locations a day. Also, having to stop somewhere to eat.it being a factor is just a lame ass excuse. society still frowns on people chasing money, the whole back and forth has always been about money since the very beginning.
Us offering 4ish and him wanting 5M+ IS the reason and probably the ONLY reason.
Whoever our next coach is they better be bald.
Montreal hired MSL with less so idk.Unfortunately other than Sullivan the retreads out there don’t look particularly appealing either. Very much feels like even if you didn’t think Tocchet was a great coach the downside greatly outweighs the upside.
Malhotra seems to have done a good job in Abbotsford but making him HC after only one season seems a bit aggressive.
Do wonder if they go off the beaten path for a replacement.
if it was an issue he wouldn't have taken the f***ing job in the first place. What do you mean it's a lame excuse? Now imagine, this could all be done at a single location? Do you understand how much of a difference that makes?
It was all downhill after he came up with “embrace the hard” as the new slogan for the team
They have a wonderful practice facility. How ‘bout them Whitecaps?
We're going to hire Sullivan aren't we? Can't say I'm exactly thrilled with the off season start so far.
Both are probably factors. In AZ and Pitt they have their own. It is always good to have a facility that is 100% the team's where everything is there for the players.Dude just wants more money and the practice facility is just a lame excuse. this is not a criticism, I am on board with people grabbing the bag and it makes sense for him to chase the bag considering Philly is willing to give him a blank check.
But seriously let's not pretend practice facility is even remotely a reason he didn't want to stay.
Hes going to rags .We're going to hire Sullivan aren't we? Can't say I'm exactly thrilled with the off season start so far.
Not sure why he'd want to come here. I heard the rangers were after him hard. We're going to hire Sullivan aren't we? Can't say I'm exactly thrilled with the off season start so far.
