Btw what did people think of the Edler hit on Perry? It seemed to me that he had legitimate beef - I actually thought we would get called for boarding there.

But it's tough too because Perry was leaning into the boards when Edler pushed him - obviously you don't want your guys injuring other players, but what's a D-man supposed to do in that situation?

Perfectly fine. Perry took exception for a position he put himself in.

I can see it that way... but I think I'd be angry if one of our players was shoved head-first into the boards like that as well, conversely. It's just one of those things.

The league has to clear that up if they haven't already, IMO - make it black and white whether the onus is on the hitter or the 'hittee' to avoid head injuries in situations like that. Would be better for all parties. Sort of like when a player is skating head down through the neutral zone.

oh and i thought that should have been a penalty on VCR ... so a happy no call. i thought the refs thought it was VCR vs Bos in the SCF

I don't there would be much room for argument if a penalty was called on Edler for that hit.

Good for Edler, playing tough, and not taking a stupid penalty when Perry freaked. Perry looks like a ***** out there. He was throwing hits and getting bounced. The one thing Swedes got over Canadian players is their discipline. They're tough and they won't ever take a dump retaliation penalty. Perry failed because of this.

LOL probably my place. I have beer, a 55" TV and a hot tub.

I have never watched a Canucks game at a bar in WA. I know where to go in HI and Cabo.

I have posted before that the Bob Burgers and brews are great burgers, and usually show a hockey game (and many a basketball game for some god awful reason.) I know the Copper Hog usually shows the games too.

Let me know next time you are coming down.

We went to the Copper Hog for 1&2 then Boundary Bay. 5 jerseys at the Hog. We stayed at Chrysalis, anywhere in Fairhaven?

Or just your hot tub.

Higgins hasn't played well enough to even deserve his 3rd line spot right now, and Schroeder and Raymond absolutely do not deserve demotions to the 4th line.
Line numbers totally mean nothing with AV. A few games ago, the 2nd line got 4th line minutes, the 3rd line got second line minutes, and the 4th line got 3rd line minutes. They are not promotions or demotions, just random sets of lines.
Could we stop putting Booth on his off wing. He has hands of stone.
Sedin Sedin Kassian
Booth Kesler Burrows
Raymond Schroeder Higgins/Hansen
Malhotra Lapierre Hansen/Higgins
I put Booth on the left side when I put him with Kassian, but I could have sworn the Amex line has always had him on the right side.

I think this is a case of people showing their biases a bit.

The Edler hit was very borderline. It definitely wasn't a dive, and Edler has to have responsibility for not hitting a guy head-first into the boards when they're in that position. I'm more surprised that he didn't get the penalty than I would be if it were the other way around.

However, it wasn't nearly bad enough to justify the tantrum Perry threw.

I'm also curious to know though: what do you do in that situation if you're a defenceman? He's bent over, leaning towards the boards - is it your fault or his if you hit/push him and his head hits the boards?

IMO the league has to draw a clear line on what is allowed and what isn't - otherwise you have a lot of misunderstanding and frustration as well as a lot of injuries to go with it. It would be better for everyone to know what's a legal play in that sort of situation.

He's just parroting the Ducks announcer that made he claim at the time. The Duck announcer Bois were whining more than Perry tonight.

Absolutely correct. The Ducks announcers also claimed that Burrows dove, and I seriously thought they were looking at a different game. They were frustrated with how frustrated the Ducks were playing, and looking to assign blame.
