Hahahaha Buffalo is 14th in the conference , and we aren't getting as good of a player. So we should be pumped about that?

And for The panthers, you chose 1/10 teams where this happens to make your point. Do you want me to list the 9 other examples where top picks go to teams and they continue to be junk teams for years?

Crosby - 1 cup - 2005
Toews - 3 cups - 2006
Kane - 3 cups - 2007
Doughty - 2 cups - 2008
Hedman - 1 final appearance - 2009
Seguin - 1 cup - 2010

Out of the 15 top 3 picks during the 2005-10 drafts 5 of them have 10 cups between them.

Good lord. I forgot this game even happened until now and wow. Shame they had to ruin a top two finish with that California sweep, but we're looking good now at least.

I don't see why so many people are so excited about a 4-6 pick. Are the teams that pick ahead of us (better players) going to good next year?

Did McDavid make Edmonton good? How about Eichel in Buffalo ? Columbus has had a ton of top 5 picks, they any good?

We are going to be basement dwellers for a decade. This team is not making the playoffs in next 5 years.

I don't think many are expecting this pick to turn around a franchise but after a terrible season it's nice to look forward to a new young exciting player for next year.

aka...if you are going to unintentionally suck you might as well get a great talent out of it.

Also, Granlund is terrible. The kids up front aren't as good as management thinks they are and the one that might be (Horvat) they've already deemed to be a third line defensive specialist center.

There is soooooo much about this team and organization that I hate. It used to be I hated having Matt Cooke on the team. I miss those days now.

I'm starting to think that Benning thought he was talking Backlund but the Flames were pitching Granlund... All those Norsemen look so much alike.

That's a pretty misleading way to put it. To me it looks like
Looks like 5 of 15 have made the finals. Not a majority percentage but still statistically impressive.

To be fair, most of these teams got two players.

Crosby, malkin
Toews, kane
Hedman, stamkos

Well we already know the only person he was listening to on this one was Weisbrod and I fully believe Weisbrod knew exactly who he thought Granlund was. He was wrong. Backlund is the reason they had no need for Granlund.

Actually Granlund is the reason why they have no need for Gralund.

Touche :handclap:

Really what I meant was really just that he isn't suited for a 4th line type role (or any role IMO) so the Flames turfed him.

I was wrong.

2005: Crosby (1)
2006: Toews (3) Staal (1)
2007: Kane (3) JVR (1 final)
2008: Stamkos (1 final) Doughty (2)
2009: Hedman (1 final)
2010: Seguin (1)

So it's actually 11 cups between 6 players, but 9 out of the 15 players picked in the top 3 in 2005-10 have made it at least to the finals once.

Say what you want about "Tanking" but statistically, I like the those odds.

Make my day.
Which is probably what we are going to get too.

Once the sedins retire there really isn't much that can keep us from being a bottom feeder.

Except they will spend their cap on whatever overpriced UFA they can get to postpone the rebuild.
