LMAO I hate this team so much sometimes...I shouldn't be even slightly surprised but it always still pisses me the f*** off when we put up 40 muffins to <15 and lose. This team just doesn't learn from their mistakes year over year now

I think it's probably moreso lack of talent. I mean I'm not saying we don't have talented players but we're lacking the couple of super star level finishers teams like the AVs have.

Yep. We have a lot of guys who can put a puck on the net. We don't have nearly enough guys who can consistently pick a corner, and the ones we currently have who can are the kind of players who are ALWAYS looking to pass first.

The fix needs to be more than just Patches. We need at least one more guy who can score.

Patches has been playing at a 40-goal pace for several years now. He’s one of the best goal scorers in the NHL. Don’t underestimate how big a deal it was that we committed a shitload of cap to him to fix the exact problem we’re talking about, and he never even made it to training camp.

One huge make-or-break moment for this team will be when he gets back and we find out whether that injury changed the calculus.

Getting a 40 goal scorer when we desperately need it, looks like.

To be fair we do like those things.

I mean.... true.

Don't get me wrong, Patches will help, but I worry that our scoring issues are deeper than just a one player fix. Patches will absolutely help the top line out, but I'm still worried that the 2nd line is going to be a bit of a mess, even when Patches comes in.

And that speaks nothing to the fundamentally broken PP we are still trying to perform every night.

Our reporters are too busy kissing everyone's ass, playing up the 'aww shucks, we're just a southern hockey market, we like tailgates and beers' mantra to ask any tough questions to them.
Shane shoveling the sh*t talking about how juiced they must feel about this one, too. I'd be PO'ed

I normally can't watch the pre-game, half time or post-game stuff anymore. I know they've gotta sell it but it seems to be too much for some of the current issues.

Patches has a better shot than anyone else on the roster, but that alone won’t save us when everyone else is almost totally stationary on the power play.

Shane has devolved into front office lackey over the years, and its getting more glaring by the year. Sometimes you just have to call a shit bomb of a game out for what it was.

Aho stood in the same place stick handling on the PP for like 10 or 15 straight seconds while everyone else just stood still. That was an embarrasment.
If it was an embarrassment, the coaches would have tried to do something to coach that out of the team. But given this is the PP we have seen the team settle into for the past 4 straight seasons, it very much looks like this is exactly what we are trying to do.

I know it isn't, but if the same mistakes are happening year in and year out without any long term fix installed, that is what you are coaching them.

Don’t bother listening to the CanesCast podcast. I enjoy everything Canes related but it’s almost nauseating listening to him and Mike. Shane is too busy trying to sound like Ron Burgundy to give any real insight. I thought he was doing it as a bit one episode and he kept doing it the second. Just full of hockey cliches.
