I think a big problem with Rod's coaching style is that it demands we give playoff effort every night for 82 games. By Game 60, we were absolutely gassed, and now we look like we are skating on fumes. And with a game every other day for the remainder of the season, we have no rests remaining, and its just going to be like this until the postseason.... At which point we play back to back until we either lift the Cup or are eliminated.

There's a reason why teams don't go balls to the wall for every game every year.

Honestly, if Necas was the player we expected him to be, we'd win the President's Trophy this year and be the odds on favorite to win the East. But he's not just missing the mark, he's not even close.

We just need to know how to slowly ramp it up. I mean the year we went to the ECF, we didn't turn it on until December, and even then we were gassed by the ECF. In reality, we need to learn how to maintain pace for the first half of the year only to turn on the gas starting mid to late January with intention to be at full bore by mid March (assuming playoffs begin in early April like usual).

Going full bore from October to March, its inevitable the team will get so gassed they can't compete by the end.
