Rods way too in love with Burns and that consecutive games streak means he will never sit… anyone got Jeff Giloolys number?
I wish we could trade him just so that it becomes someone else's problem

Like, the Burns situation makes it really imperative that we extend Rantanen, because we cannot win a cup with Burns getting major minutes and the coaches are too loyal to his streak to bench him and there is no other reasonable place to slot him other than heavily sheltering him with Slavin, who looks to be overtasked with it this year. This was never going to be the year to make a rental deal, so this better not be a rental player.

I don't think Burns is so bad he needs to sit, he'd be perfectly fine on the 3rd pair, issue is we are relying on him on our top pair and have no other options there really. I'm not so sure we move on from him after this year but it's definitely looking damn near certain he won't be back on our top pair or for much more than vet minimum. I know Rod won't go for it but I'd like to see us keep Orlov and play Nikishin on his off side with Slavin. Otherwise we really need to get a top 4 RHD -- unfortunately, it's not easy to find those. We've gotten pretty lucky with Burns and TDA post-Dougie, but not sure we'll strike gold a 3rd team going cheap there.

The real problem with the game is we let the Islanders hang around. We had a great start, potted a couple, then took the next period and a half off. We only put the foot back on the gas after they tied it, at which point we again had great chances for the GWG (Ghost's chance followed by KK's shortly after, Svech's off the post).

Full credit to the Islanders, because that's how they play and it works for them. But the Canes can't allow that when games start to matter

The defensive zone faceoff that led to the tying goal was due to Burns unnecessarily swatting a puck that had to be 15 feet in the air.
And on the tying goal play he was caught flat footed puck watching as the skater crashed the net. Even if Lee doesn't score, Burns' guy would have had a great chance, too

Not a great game but Hall has a lot more left in the tank than I thought. Those passes on pp2 should have been finished.

If he can keep that up I'd like to see him on pp1.
Yeah, Hall showed he still has talent.

Good to see, and hopefully he fits in well with the team along with Rantanen of course.

Bummer to lose this game. But, it will be hard to wipe the smile off my face knowing Mikko's on our team.

I'm not sure about the current first line, but also it's hard to discern since we were losing so many face-offs, possessions.
