You're not wrong about that, though for me this has nothing to do with the Tampa series and everything to do with just not having faith in Reimer right now. I can't fault him on the 3rd goal at all, I don't care if it's Hasek in net nobody's stopping that. But the second one should have never happened.

Well let’s not go crazy. Hasek would’ve stopped that somehow. The hell if I know how, maybe caught it with his blocker hand before it could get deflected. He was a f***ing wizard.

The fact is, Mrazek is close to ready, and Ned has proven that he can play in the NHL. I'm not worried about goaltending even with Reimer not exactly playing his best. If Mrazek's return still isn't enough, we have a top-5 farm system to deal from to get another goalie. More than anything, this is where developing players truly pays off.

How many of Tripp’s “Huge Caniac’s” are on there? We can retcon all of em

I’m not even kidding, there are a bunch of options on there that if a few of us could go in on it, I’d be more than happy to throw in a couple of bills.

Imagine LeVar Burton saying “Buffalo Sabers suck”

Abby: "Jake, tell us how excited you are to score your first NHL goal!"

Jake: "Yeah, um, ya know, it's pretty cool..."

IDK what these people expect out of athletes. Its always like they think some kind of epiphany is going to come out when they don't realize these guys are reacting like animals to rapidly occurring events and acting on training and instinct rather than laborious thought

I'm bad a math but is that actually 30 percent? or just 30 percent each time? either way, I'm annoyed by them missing all three lol.

chance of something happening at least once within x number of attempts:

(1-(1- chance of thing happening in 1 attempt, as a decimal) ^ number of attempts)

30% chance: .3
3 attempts: 3

(1-(1-.3)^3)= .657

In other words, on 3 breakaways you have .657 chance to at least get one goal- which is to say you have a .343 chance to get no goal.

I’m making a broad assumption that your chance to score on each breakaway is about 30%.

That means your chance to miss is 70%.

So your chance to miss 3 times in a row is 70% x 70% x 70%, or roughly 34%.

These guys were on it.

If the chance of scoring on a breakaway is 30%, with 3 attempts the chances of :
0 goals = 34.3%
1 goal = 44.1%
2 goals = 18.9%
3 goals = 2.7%

Not overly concerned with giving Florida a point. They and Tampa are almost certain to get a playoff spot out of the Central, so giving them a point only really impacts home ice advantage come playoffs. Keeping Chicago, CLB and Dallas from getting points and gaining on Carolina is more crucial IMO.

That said, big picture is that Carolina is without their starting goalie for most of the season, without a top line winger for most of the season (Covid, not recovering well from Covid, concussion), and their star players really haven't been producing / playing well (Aho, Svech, Slavin, Dougie), yet they are still 13-6-1 which is the 5th best points % in the NHL.

Don't play Hamilton in OT. All Bean. 3 Beans.

Hard to argue with RBA’s coaching most of the time, but you have to get Bean out there for 3-3. He’s built for it.

That was my initial instinct as well, but thinking about it some more, Rod's probably thinking: "We are money in the shoot-out, so if we can win in OT great, but it's important for 2 points that we don't lose in OT". Not that Bean would lead to a loss in OT more than Hamilton, but it's probably RBA's thinking that he's still young and not as refined defensively.

Canes have 1 OTW (TB), 1 OTL (FLA), and now 4 SO wins and zero SO losses, so that line of thinking is probably pretty sound.
