We can pay for the complete family here, he, his mom, bro and sisters, cousins, uncles, aunts, all the relatives to 3rd generation, that must make 68 persons? They'll be all living here with a new identy in a quiet village kept secret, so no russian mob would do anything to Michkov family.

Some of you don't understand what I mean. I mean that lets say, and this is hypothetical obviously, that Fantilli, Carlsson, and Smith are available at our pick because some other teams went off the board, I'm afraid that Smith will still be the pick because of that connection.
Oh okay.

Yes i think it is possible that we may pick him before Carlsson. But i think his upside are very high and some Bob McKenzie scouts ranks him 2nd in this draft. In itself this argument mean nothing because it is only based off the autorithy of McKenzie scout.

Well, they picked Slafkovsky 1st, i gaved them benefit of the doubt. (Seems already like he was a way better pick than Wright.)

I will give them the benefit of the doubt if they do something like this. Or even if they pass on Michkov for someone like Reinbacher.

But listen carefully, don't f*** things up.

clickbait.

Every single year there is 'trade up talk' and it basically happens...never.

The 'Mitchell' family you mean (shhhhh)

Thanks Darren for the genius info of "anythings possible".

Same every year but no GM would ever trade down in the top 5, especially with the quality in that top 5. Anyone of these players could be the best player ion the draft. Risk of potentially trading away the best player for an extra pick or two doesn't make sense.

It's not only here

I know...but might be true also, we never know with these guys.

Molson didn’t stop MB / Timmins from selecting a very controversial Mailloux…
I feel the viral outrage might have been a bit of a surprise there lol (Hope to see him play soon btw)

Agreed they haven’t been following the trend at all though from the coach to draft picks.

They’ll do their own risk-management with their own team and with much info we don’t have.

How are the Habs viewed in Russia relative to other NHL teams? Are they liked, hated, ignored?

Any Russian posters here have any insight?

Mailloux should have been a no draft. I wish the best for him. And he’s already payed the price. Im fine with him, but I don’t think the Mailloux thing is over before he’s an NHL regular.

That was a judgment call that they messed up on and I think they could very well mess up the Michkov decision. Montrealers will be just as upset if the Habs draft michkov as when the Habs drafted Tretiak in 1983, aka not at all. They’ll be ecstatic.

yup seems to be the way.... say somehing , post it and it is a rumor.
classic new way
not many have the true source
Dreger is a champ of sprinkling caveats in anything he says and yet still be able to get platforms to quote him. That is some special talent. That, or the gaping-mouthed fools that resort to him, are too desperate for content and need filler material.

Apples vs Oranges. Neither Ovechkin or Malkin were ranked #5 in Bobby Mc's poll of scouts a month before the draft. They're both franchise players (understatement of the year).
That's not really a fair comparison. War has affected Michkov rankings. He would be ranked #2, behind projected one of all time great.

Honestly, i am more "afraid" he is not there at 5 then we would skip him there.

Michkov has the potential to be a top 5 NHL players in his prime.

Gorton and Hughes are experienced enough to know that a 5th overall pick is an abundant spot where as getting a Michkov is a 1% opportunity.

If Michkov is assuring teams he is coming to the NHL, me thinks he may be picked 2nd. The teams that just missed Bedard may want its shot at another exceptional prospect.
Michkov won't be picked 2nd or 3rd...bet on it.

or any of the dumb ace trades MB did
One thing that shocked me was the Cunneyworth decision. I’m personnally fine going for a non-French speaker as coach, but I was completely dumbfounded they didn’t see that there would be pushback. They looked blindsided by the whole thing. It’s like they had just landed from another planet in Montreal.

Maybe the fact that he doesn’t need or want to claim asylum?

Slafkovsky has been a disappointing 1OA and as soon as there is a clear superior player that emerges from that draft this will be held against the front office until proven otherwise.

I think it’s fair enough — the 1OA is a big responsibility. It could be they didn’t evaluate Slafkovsky correctly.

Or vice versa. We won't know until we know. Time will tell. I personally still have faith in Slaf.
