Not sure about that one.. Leonard is a hard comparable to find. Let's just say he's physical, he's mean, he likes the big moment, he skates really really well, he shoots really really well, he's creative, he has good hands, and flashes some promise on the playmaking end.

Watch the Bob McKenzie special, you'll get the vibe that Montreal and Michkov aren't considered as a match.
That's quite disheartening I was really hoping to see a possible superstar with the Habs

Shaw best games with us were on our top 6, complimenting our talented forwards and exhibiting surprising puck skills and hockey IQ for a checking winger.

But I agree about the "hard comparable" part. Leonard is much more advanced in his offense than Shaw at the same age, for a start.

Bobby Mac even mentioned that teams don't know if he'll sign an extension. The 5 years has been mentioned numerous times and 8 years was mentioned by a Russian scout in a post from yesterday.
Him signing a 5 years deal is from his father making him sign a 5 years deal 2 years ago. There’s 3 years left. He’s said he wants to play in the NHL. He’s in America next week. He’s not signing another contract. The so-called Russian insider just rehashed publicly available information and sprinkled in 8 years. It’s obvious he didn’t know Michkov’s situation from a hole in the wall.

Other than Brobov I didn't think we removed anyone from scouting isn't Lapointe or whoever still here?

Added Shutron, Yannick St-Pierre, Albie O'Connell, Joey Tenute, Billy Ryan and Andrew Whiteside.

In addition to bringing in an analytics department, Christopher Boucher who was in the draft discussions last year and is supported by Philippe Desnauliers and Miranda McMillan this year.

So it's looking like it's going to come down to Michkov, Leonard and Dvorsky unless someone goes and takes MM top 4.
To me it's still looking like one of Michkov, Smith, Leonard, Reinbacher, Dvorsky, or Benson.

Just gotta wait a week to find out. Impossible for me to say San Jose will pass on Michkov without them yet having interviewed him.

Well you follow a lot more closely than I do so hopefully your optimism pays off

Not that I am necessarily optimistic, although I'm far more optimistic with this group than the last group.. just that I feel like we shouldn't hold past sins against a new group and we should give them some time to judge their work rather than allow ourselves to get too down on them because it may not go the way we'd do it, if we were in charge.

At least you’re not sending an OceanGate submersible. :sarcasm:
Or what’s left of it.

That’s not how this board operates!

You are going off the script here! Stay with the program! Focus!!!

Don’t these early pick usually follow BobbyMac’s list? If so, MM should be there at 5OA, as this thread has been repeating for a long time now

More or less, just last year Wright fell to 4. He's the most accurate, but there's usually some variance.

You think at 6 or 7 ? They will be asking who wants MM?

Yeah from all I've seen.. Arizona wants Reinbacher badly. Philadelphia will take whoever is there between Leonard and Dvorsky.. leaving Michkov for Washington, and if they pass, Vancouver looks like the next logical place.

But considering the risk on Michkov, the teams behind the Habs aren't going to pay additional assets to assume the risk, and if you are trying to jump the Washington spot, you are too far back to pick Reinbacher, Dvorsky or Leonard.

If they know someone absolutely wants Michkov or Reinbacher and is afraid of us picking him, I could see that happen.
Unless all those scouts are bluffing, no one will need to move up to 5 to get Reinbacher.

Scratch what I just said, I just noticed that Habs and Coyotes are drafting at 5 and 6.
