Is it possible, that michkov has the same or similar red flags that yakupov had?

Yak was injured for a good part of his draft year (31g and 69pts in 42 games) but during his 17 year old season with Sarnia, he scored 49 g and 101 points in 65 games. For reference, Nick Suzuki scored 34g and 94pts in 59 games during his 20 year old season.

Undersized? Yes. Questionable attitude? Maybe. But the talent with yakupov was too great to ignore.

Yakupov had no IQ; Michkov has the highest IQ.

Like I said earlier, I guess their names end in "ov".

Well it kinda is because we don't know until we know, you know? :) Because this is our discourse on these forums, not the discussions the managment team is having. The red flags people are using in their arguments against him here on HFB are unsubstantiated.

Nah it's not, since the truth isn't on Reddit, and won't come from the sport journalist either.
Discourse and arguments on this forums or anywhere else that isn't a NHL team war room is just white noise.

Yak has the same red flags that Michkov has in the same way Wood has the same red flags that Drouin had.

Noise this is all I hear reading this. Noise. The rumours about interviews and mood issues.

Our management team will have done their best to get the proper information I'm sure, and until I hear them say that these things are concerrns for them. I will continue to feel he's our best choice.
You can feel it if you like...but I'm quite certain we won't pick him and am surprised so many fans don't realize that yet.

Can you just get to your point you're aimlessly trying to make?

I'm going by what I've seen 1st hand and video and scouting reports, what I said isn't anything new.
This is well established among scouting circles. And passes the eye test.
Maybe the hawks will take him if he's that good

I don’t think Hughes is making decisions necessarily based on the backlash. He showed last year that they will pick the player they like the most and worry about the fallout later.

I do think he realizes there is a tier with 4 players in it, if you concede Bedard is in his own Tier. I believe he has Michkov in that Tier, but is not willing to assume the risks associated. With Bobrov and his ties this is one time where I am willing to concede they have more information than the rest. If they decide not to pick him even if he’s available then they are likely justified in their thinking. I think Hughes recognizes the drop off after 5 and wants to still get a top 5 player (Michkov excluded). The only way to do that is to move into the 4th spot or better. Hence the trading up rumours.

I don’t like the idea of passing up on a ginormous talent for no hockey related reasons, but I think this is one time where they have much more information than me do. I think he may slip outside the top 10. We will see.

Well no.
Since you used the absence of evidence [available to you] as evidence of absence.

No one is picking or passing on Michkov on a whim in this draft, it's going to be based on what they know, and their info isn't coming from the Athletic.

No I didn't I used the absense of confirmation available to (any of us) in this discussion as evidence of absense. Unless ofcourse you have proof?

For the record, I think the "Russian factor" has very little weight. Teams passing on michkov will do so because they don't like the player, not because of his country or last name

I don't think anyone can definitively say Benson is outright more talented than Ryan Leonard.. and then you factor in the better frame and skating.. I can definitely see Leonard going ahead of Benson in a BPA on talent.
BPA is so much variable… I can have a player on my list that is rank 3rd on my list and 12th in yours. Doesn’t mean I didn’t take BPA even if he’s 12th on your list

Hello everyone

Here is my thinking

These 4 players will go 1-4

Seems michkov is positioning himself to not go to the number 2-4 spot from what I am reading

Bedard
Fantilli
Smith (smith will go to one of the 2 American teams )
Carlson

If Montreal gets an interview with michkov then we pick him with our 5th

If we do not get an interview then we will pick Zach benson (unless for some miracle carlson and smith still available at 5)

Forget Leonard , he had one good tournament on a line with smith

Benson has been more consistent. And is the better player

My 2 cents
Benson os the better player.

Hughes went a lot further in his response in how they determine what comprises the most talented. It's every aspect of what the said player brings to the table. Many people have glossed that over because their favorite(s) don't check all the boxes.
