How many full games from 2023 have you seen Michkov play?
I've watched 3 so far. Thanks to @montreal for making them accessible.

Stevie Wonder can see this.By Hughes trying to move up to 4 tells me he's not taking Michkov
Them doing all this because they want Michkov is the opposite of what is really happening. They don’t like him, so they are trying to avoid the fallout by assuring they get one of the top 5 without it being Michkov. If they are moving up, it’s virtually a guarantee they don’t want Michkov.

Can't say I totally disagree with this premise...
Matvei Michkov, once seen as Bedard’s only real competition for first overall, is one of the most complicated prospects to evaluate in years. His contract situation, which will see him play another three full seasons in Russia, when coupled with the Russian Factor and the Russian war in the Ukraine have done serious damage to his draft stock, making it an open question where he will end up on draft day despite being a clear top-3 pick based on talent.
Some people are convincing themselves that he’s too risky of a player size/style wise, but I think those people just want a reason to pass on him because there are so many factors at play. Michkov has the talent to be a first overall pick in most normal drafts, but this year’s draft is far from normal and the teams at the top will be much more likely to take a safer pick in Adam Fantilli or Leo Carlsson than risk their job selecting Michkov.
However, once the top group of prospects are gone by fifth overall and the Montreal Canadiens are faced with the choice between risking the Michkov pick or selecting someone with a significantly lower talent level, that’s where the real drama will appear.
I don’t trust a word from the Russian scout of the team with the greatest Russian scorer on his team, that has skated with Michkov before, saying anything.
Recruiter guy that's always on Marinaro's show says he would take Michcov or Reinbacher. He would not take Smith or Leonard. He likes Benson but he's small and he puts him around his 10th place, I think. He says if we don't take far and away the best talent available(after Bedard) then we should go for need and Reinbacher would be a top 2 D which we don't have(in his opinion).
I know we need talent upfront and we have a ton of young good D coming up but a franchise D is not too shabby.
The rumours about Michkov angling for a specific org are a little worrisome after trading away our last two drafted Russians.
If he doesn't want to play for the Habs then there's no sense drafting him.
@montreal has a youtube channel with several VHL and KHL games of Michkov from this season. Stop spreading BS. He even posted the link in one of the draft threads.
Just because the video exists, doesn't mean people here are watching. Some are, many are not.
Terrible bold prediction

10 Bold Predictions for the 2023 NHL Draft - The Hockey Writers Latest News, Analysis & More
Now that it is less than two weeks away, I wanted to take this chance to make a few predictions about the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. While there’s no question…thehockeywriters.com
Not because it fits your narrative that his prediction are good......he's saying that Michkov won't be pick top 7 and that our pick would Reinbacher
based off the # of views most my vids don't get that many views outside of Hutson doing something crazy in a game. It does suck badly when you put 2 hours into something and like 200 or 400 people view it (it terms of money that's like .50 cents for the effort)
While anything can’t be completely discounted, I would find it highly unlikely that the Habs would expend assets to draft Michkov with a higher pick.Do you really think it's completely out of the realm of possibilty the habs may actually love Michkov and are determined to make sure he's available even if this scenario is unlikely?
Not that I'm disagreeing with your assesment. Just that the possibility may exist.
Because I'm aware, even I, who is a huge supporter of Michkov, too would struggle to choose between Carlsson Fantilli or Michkov if we had a top 3 pick. At 4 it becomes a no brainer to me from a strictly hockey sense.

I, like others have posited, believe that if the Habs would be successful in moving up, it’s only because they don’t want to be stuck with the decision about Michkov at the 5th drafting slot.
They may also be liking the perceived lower risk profiles of Fantilli-Carlsson-Smith and that would be consistent with the type of caution that teams with higher picks, would tend to exercise.
Since none of us have access to the due diligence the Habs are performing, we can only take our perceptions so far.
I really don’t care about being right or wrong on this, I’ll just be happy that they’ve left no stone unturned in reaching their final decision.
If they are trying to move up it’s because they see a player they like and they believe he will be gone at 5 and Michkov will be the one left standing in the top 5 and they are not comfortable with picking him.Do you really think it's completely out of the realm of possibilty the habs may actually love Michkov and are determined to make sure he's available even if this scenario is unlikely?

Awesome man, which ones? Because I can't find any full KHL games on his channel, just extended clips.

I do not believe the possibility exists. We are not picking him imo, but we still want our top 5 player and that’s why Hughes is trying to guarantee he gets one of them.
you don't have to since the Habs clearly should have very good info on him due to Boborov's dad. So anything that is said now up to the draft is just noise that the Habs likely don't have to worry about since they should know all this stuff.
terrible scout, NEVER draft for need in the top 5, that's how you end up with KK, unless you know how to develop talent.
They will know this in advance due to Boborov's dad so I'm not worried about this, if the Habs don't pick him (as I assume he's there at 5th) then I got to think there's a very good reason for it, that they know something that they learned from Boborov's dad say vs just some kind of not saying woke line of thinking but not picking him just because he's Russian and it looks bad because of what they are doing. Not saying that's the case, and it's not like if they did pass on him, we likely wouldn't know the full truth as to why I'm guessing.
just so it's clear I only have VHL games as the KHL geo blocks my vids so I can't post them. If you go way back to '21 when he was 15 in the MHL, if you look up the Alexander Gordin vids I have, he could be in some of them but I can't say for sure and I have been deleting some of the really old vids from prospects that likely won't get any views anyway.

1 - I could see it. I know Friedman on his 31 thoughts had him falling out of the top 12, I thought that was nuts cause I don't see the Caps passing on him at 8th.
2. It's crazy how much he's been rumored to us, to me it seems to high but I don't know him well enough to say other then this sounds like a smokescreen unless they really think he's in the Seider range.
3. I haven't seen him at all but that write makes him sound interesting, I wouldn't be surprised if he's the 2nd or 3rd D taken in the draft.
4. I could see it.
5. I don't know him at all other then I saw he's almost 6'7, I don't know if I would draft a goalie that tall.
6. I've been saying that ever since the Jackets said they like him a lot.
7. this one I don't know at all
8. I thought he would get picked but he is small for a goalie
9. I don't know this one either
10. sounds likely
Many reasons, political uncertainty, war in Ukraine, we have no control over his development for at least 3 years. Why do you believe we are passing on Michkov at 5? I'd love some clarity on this for my own peace of mind.
Many reasons, political uncertainty, war in Ukraine, we have no control over his development for at least 3 years.
Now there are reports of him having a list abs refusing to meet teams along with reports of an attitude problems. There’s a lot of red flags, I never thought we’d pick him with just the politics/war. I’m almost certain he’s a DND for us now.
Same, now we will trade up to 4th and pick Will Smith and still pick Michkov 31St.Not gonna lie, I'm still really hurt that mere months ago we were looking at drafting 2 of Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson/Smith/Michkov/Reinbacher/Leonard/Benson/Wood/Dvorsky
Michkov is the most likely to be there at 5. If he were out target there would be very little reason to trade up. There’s a very good chance he will be there, better than the rest.
The fact there are reports we are actively engaged with San Jose to move up one spot only affirms this is true.
Having Carlsson will be great. Can you imagine a line of : Carlsson-Dach-Slaf? All above 6ft3!The key pick is Colombus, if by any chance they take Smith, we're guaranteed of having one of Michkov or Carlsson falling on our lap!!
