It's why I added Gorton in my post. I agree in heirarchy Gorton is officially above him, but to me they are more like a two headed monster. And believe whoever they choose will be agreed upon by both of them anyway.
Yes I agree only because I think Gorton would leave if he was relegated to a blueprint role and had Hughes execute everything on that blueprint alone

I beg to differ about Pollock. He drafted the safer Napier over the artist Bossy.

Bossy wasn't a Michkov-level player though.

Pollock had a flair to pick the strongest superstars. Almost got us Potvin but the NYIs were smart enough not to bite. Almost traded for Marcel Dionne too.

I mean, I guess it's debatable. Who knows what he would have done for real.

Bossy was probably the purest goal scorer the league has ever known.

I am of the opinion that if Bobrov’s reports from the inside are positive, they should draft him.

Could just be that they have different beliefs? The ‘being scared for their families’ could just be a PR song.

At this point, I'm not sure we can ever know whether it's a "belief" or just a general opinion you hold because the entire tribal structure you grew up with holds it. You might be opened to gays but still tribalistically not publicly support them, out of respect for your upbringing and your original crowd.

Trying to force someone to betray what he grew up with is an asshole move IMO. The NHL didn't look further than their nose on that one. They should have arranged other activities promoting LGBTQ+ such that no one would be forced to a public decision.

Bobby Hull would be my guy.

Anyway, I meant as prospect. Bossy was a strong prospect but he clearly overachieved in his NHL career compared to what people thought he would become.

I’m sure if Michkov was playing in the Q or O or the Dub with tons of exposure vs kids instead of playing against men and ex NHLers in a pro league with limited air time we’d have boatloads of highlights and extended videos of his hockey IQ

For sure. Really my point is there isn’t any full game footage where it pretty much just locks in on him or a lot of shift analysis of Michkov available for the general public.

I mean, my comment can apply to any player. If we stuck with highlights only, Smith would go #1.

It may have been a PR song in some cases. It likely wasn't in other cases. I mean we're talking about a country where it is a crime to promote LGBT causes.

It is getting old that the habs don't have a #1 centre

remember they are impossible to find - Every GM since 1996

Timmins even said he figured Giroux would be available with their 2nd. Big blunder all around if you had no idea on teams targeting him in the 1st.

But no point looking in the rearview mirror, right fellow Habs fans?! :DD
some of the little turds here weren't even born when we were bitching about the Kostisyn pick, Fisher and the rest lol.

You complain non stop. Don't think I ever heard you say one positive thing about the Habs.
What has there been to be positive about in the last 30 years? Almost 30 years to the day since we won our last cup?

This management has yet to show me anything in terms of competence, and their pick last year was dubious. They'll get positivity when they get some f***ing results.

A scout quoted in the Bernier piece, FWIW, said that it could involve one or two D prospects and two draft picks. The scout said that it could even involve Mailloux as he didn’t see a fit for him with the Habs.

On what basis would Mailloux not be a fit? The scout did not say. Did he know something?

If the above scenario would materialize, it would be Mailloux, another D, the 5th OA and another pick in exchange for the 4th OA.
Madness. I’d keep all those assets and just draft Leonard who I think will have as an impactful NHL career as Smith. Maybe even better.

He destroyed the kid...

Said all his teammates, coaches, and managers know he's a shitty person! And I'm not even joking.

Said he sent him a text message so he can talk with him and the response he got was absolutely brutal.

Said he's an extremely individual player and he expects him to drop out of the top 10 at the draft!

I brought this up earlier too. Ya I wonder why Michkov wouldn't want to talk to this guy who apparently is making shit up about him and ruining his image.

His former coach said "I am satisfied with his game, it is clear that Matvei plays with dignity, shows good hockey, he has the right attitude... He is blocking shots… his leadership qualities are visible, which help us in recent games."

There is no legitimate proof that this kid is a douche from what I've seen. This could very well be a ploy by Nikolishin who is apparently the Caps Russian scout in hopes that he falls to him. A recent interview came out with him and Russian posters are saying how he doesn't seem like the diva like how some paint him out to be.
