Even Smith, how good is he really?

Yeah, I loved what I saw of him, but he's kind of an enigma. He could bust spectacularly.

Michkov is both much better and much safer.

Even if we don't take Reinbacher, chance that Carlsson is there are like at 5% so we won't draft at PPG C at 5.

Actually, even then my point stands, less so of course. But we'd be looking at Mintyukov, Clarke, Guhle, Soderstrom and Bouchard. And the forward we'd get would be far worse, could be a 40pt difference.

The forward could also be a Suzuki/Caufield and not actually have much difference.

Now don't get me wrong I think we should take a forward with our pick this year but that's more because I think the BPA this year will be a forward. But we shouldn't be planning to draft positionally especially when talking about drafts that's over a year away.

I Agree that Carlsson is a terrific prospect

But many prospect from everywhere bust.

Holtz, Eklund were also very strong prospect coming out of the SHL. They are not trending in the right direction.

we would be much better with those pairs Hutson will be a stud offensively but being small we would be better off pairing him with a big guy that can defend well

Mailloux is also nice offensively but struggles in hes own end which is why Guhle would be good with him

A Guhle-Reinbacher pairing in the playoffs would be a nightmare to play against.

sure but unfortunately you cant play them for 60 minutes what about your other lines ? you can have them together at the end of the game if we're up by one but we still have 4 other defs that need partners also and Hutson Mailloux arent great defensively

That's for sure especially Mailloux. I don't think Hutson is that bad defensively but with his size it will always be difficult for him in the NHL.

Yeah Carlsson or Michkov are my two most coveted players at 5 and would be ecstatic with either. I just have serious doubts either will be there. If they are, it's the most ideal scenario for us to guarantee ourselves one of them. This is where trading up might be the best course of action to assure we get either.
