I'm sure Luke Tuch is already signed, but they'll give him his own day. He would get virtually no press with Lane Hutson being signed at the same time.
Not sure why Les Canadiens signed Hutson I thought he should play 1 more year at Boston U...he's awfully small though he can skate and has moves but...

Because of the NCAA status; LH held all the cards regarding the timing of his contract. One more year and he could just wait it out for one more and dictate where he wanted to go ala Fox under the threat of not signing with the Habs.

If you sign him now; he gets a bonus, a burnt year and accelerate his career. No where does it say he will be playing in the NHL. AHL is just as good for his growth and talking seriously… he’ll never be big nor average. He’s small, and will stay that way.

I more year to get stronger and more Mature physically, mentally, emotionally
Meh, he is dominating the NCAA. Its time for the next level. No one is saying top pairing minutes in the NHL but its time to boost the opposition for his development.

A game or two with The Habs now and then the AHL next year will do him way better than another year toying with the NCAA.

Regardless of their feelings about Lane being NHL ready soon, there is a very legitimate risk of losing him if we wait another year to sign him, so no actual decision was made there (see Gauthier, Cutter).

If they did it with Sean Ferrell, they sure as hell had to it with Hutson.

KIA. He's only getting paid for 3 days, current budget is less than 15K.

Until Hutson prove he can handle the minutes and the NHL play, it is premature. Should he do that next season, then you can re-asses.

If we're not in the PO race come next TDL, trade Matheson at 50% for a king's ransom and go fishing the following summer if the remaining guys can't do it. This is an even more interesting option if Struble/Xhekaj/Hutson/Engstrom continue their upwards curves.

Of course, if we're playoff bound it's different and you keep him.

It's also different if they talked and he's open to a team friendly 2-3 years deal. If it's longer or if it's pricey, I think we're better off capitalizing.
