well he is the new shiney up n comer mobile D, US national team, NCAA success, etc... IMO he wont be able to play much (if at all in the NHL) unless he bulks up another 20lbs (at least) and I'm not sure he will be able to do that. But, he's brimming with confidence, and "often" late year showcases tend to work (especially when the team is way out of it), as they are given PP minutes, and nice Stay at home D pairing, etc...

If he can get a couple assists and (even a goal) over two games with cush minutes it would be like winning the lottery (for us), as that will hopefully "answer" the concern as to whether he can actually play in the NHL. Realistically, I'm not sure how he avoids getting crushed/injured. If he starts from camp, teams will have game plans for when he is on the ice (to start a season) and it will be 10x harder to showcase..

So, my guess is Hugo has a trade lined up with a willing partner saying show me first.

not to mention the posters in here begging for Catton to be drafted, and Lane (the saviour) Hutson.. Boy the Habs are going to terrorize teams for years to come.

If people want an offensive Dman with stalwart IQ and actualy "size" - then we draft Parekh, and Hutson become expendable.
You’re talking shyt

The people obsessed with size are out of touch with the modern NHL. He will be heavily insulated.

Sure he isn't large but neither is nikita kucherov. Kuch was 170 when he was drafted

I wouldn’t look at size when it comes to a player with elite skill such as Hutson.

Reality is clubs can’t roster too many diminutive players and hope to win. Last year’s Stanley Cup finalists almost exclusively draft and roster bigger sized players. Guess they’re out to lunch too.

The NHL as we all know is a copycat league and bigger players are sought in the playoffs where the league throws out its rule book.

I don’t 100% buy that approach as an elite scoring talent like Hutson cannot simply be set aside on account of size. He’ll eventually gain more strength and weight and should be more than fine.

No one is more “obsessed” with size than most NHL teams. The vast majority of posters in here don’t appear to me to dismiss Hutson on the basis of his build.

This player is a gem, why not simply enjoy the thought of how bright his future can be.

Great, must mean someone on the left will have to find a new chair sooner than later.

Maybe X converts to a forward. :naughty:

Had no idea Hutson is a Quartexx client. How well the stars aligned.

It burns a year of ELC and gets the player to RESTRICTED free agency one year earlier (but with no offer sheet rights that first year as per article 10.2c). However, it makes no difference to the UFA deadline, which is 7 accrued seasons or age 27, and an accrued season is 40 games. So the UFA deadine for Hutson remains June 30, 2031 whether his contract starts today or in the Fall.

Look another wannabe scout that clearly hasn’t watched him play for more than 1 game. Gold star pumpkin
My scouting notes show me the 360° Denis Savard spinorama he tried in the final four would end up in a separated hip.
Other than empty platitudes of a successful amateur career, I have yet to hear an honest assessment about how an "average" speed 5'9 160lb Defenseman can survive let alone contribute in the NHL.

Don't get me wrong, i think the kid has IQ through the roof, and hes dealt with his size issue all his life, but how can that protect him?

The issue is we already have too many small players on our team. I feel his only hope is to join a team that can spot him in on limited pp duties, insulated with big men. Right now, and the near future, that is not the Habs.

You do know that Hutson is a LDman and Parekh is a RDman right

Theres only one offensive minded point producing Dman an any given club.. it makes no difference which side he plays..

For Defense however, i take Parekh all day every day over Hutson. And since Parekh is infact a RD that makes him an incredibly valuable prospect..

Parekh has Sens Karlsson as his future.

For Hutson it was a given, kinda the condition to sign but Hugues already stated it, Rein ai'nt gonna play this year, his nhl contract only starts next season.

At least...
Reinbacher's first year of contract will slide to next year unless he plays in at least 10 NHL games this season.

This is mathematically impossible with 3 games left on the season so even if he plays the remaining games, his contract will slide

Hey man,

It’s like having 12 Beliveaus.

True story, Jean Beliveau was invited to a Cote St. Luc Baseball minor game in 1966 (I was 7 years old). He totally boosted my confidence by pointing out the respect that the coach was showing me by having me bat double-cleanup! It worked, I developed into a good hitter as I got older.

Not sure why Les Canadiens signed Hutson I thought he should play 1 more year at Boston U...he's awfully small though he can skate and has moves but...
After the I'm not sure what Slafkovsky is doing in the NHL fiasco of a year ago.

I am sure I won't be questioning when this management group decides to sign their prospects.

I don’t watch much college hockey, do forwards finish their checks? I’m really not worried at all for Hutson playing a few games; he’s a hockey player, will be wearing a helmet, and if he gets hurt he has like 4 months to get better before the season… If his confidence is shot from it it’s weird (no way in hell anyone makes it to the nhl or plays at his level with a fragile ego).

I think peeps might be projecting their own anxiety here a bit lol (that he won’t be up to par). It’s the kid’s dream whether or not he spends next year in the A, let’s be stoked for him (and us).

The fans will love his dangles at the blue line (instead of Matheson fumbling the puck)
I think Matheson is a fabulous athlete and mostly removing him from special teams (and the gaffes he makes there) will let us all appreciate the player.
