Idk why some pretend montys been good this year. He's a sub .900 and almost a 3.00 gaa.

That's not good.
The team was allowing an unprecedented amount of high danger scoring chances before the Carrier trade. He’s more than fine splitting the starting role. He’s stolen way more then he’s given up, there are way bigger issues.

Oh well, good lesson to not let up with a big lead. Bad game from everyone but still optimistic about this team. The real progress will be made when Dvo and Gally can he replaced with players that can actually contribute offensively. Hage, Demi, Reinbacher, Beck and Fowler are on the way plus hopefully two more big pieces drafted this year. The future is crazy bright.

I don't even want them to make them to make the playoffs this year. That was it right there. This team is not ready. We need Ivan, reinbacher and something else.

We have most of the pieces. But we're not ready yet

Hard lesson for a young team. I’m not tank obsessed, ya never trade rising-team success for modest gain in draft position, but there ARE needs.

They *can* be filled thru other avenues, but it’d be nice to fill them at the draft.

Montembeault has not being an impact player this season. He was 0.900 before tonight. Habs are in the mix in spite of him not because.

He has an outsized impact on the game, regardless of if that impact is positive or negative. That is what I was saying.

Montembeault has a .891 sv% in his last 20 games and .886 sv% in his last 10.

Let's stop pretending.

We had a glorious scoring chance while up 3-0. Dvorak rang it off the crossbar. The puck went the other way and the Leafs scored. Woll shut the door after that.

It was all she wrote.
From the highlights it seems like we could have easily scored more than 3 goals tonight had it not been for Woll or better puck luck.

The defense coming unglued though and continuing to take so many penalties are a bit concerning. Hoping this loss will mean the boys will come out hungry tomorrow.

I've never been convinced in Montembeault as our guy going forward and I've been vocal on that for a while. I don't like his positioning, his lateral movement, and his puck handling. When you look at the attributes of the best goalies in the league, Monty is lacking in comparison.

I think he can be a really solid backup goalie, maybe even a tandem goalie, but if we're expecting him to be our full time starter when were a contending team then we're going to have a real bad time.
Montembault was signed as a cheap stop gap until the younger guys coming up could push him out. The turn around this season mixed with the weak eastern conference playoff race is putting us in a position I don’t think even Hughes projected for this season. Primeau playing himself out of the league so Dobes could get into a rotation was also unexpected.
