Post-Game Talk: Canadiens run into a brick Woll - Lose 7-3

Sad thing is he had worked his way down to -4 from like -13, so this game pushed him back quite a bit again.

It was obvious Leafs had heavily planned for him. They pressured him hard over anyone else on the ice & gave him no room to operate. The result was turnovers. He needs to learn in those situations that forcing things is never the right move.
Dallas did the same thing . I think he's being noticed now and other teams are adjusting. Gotta be interesting to see how he will react in the next few weeks.

Well we have guys on here saying he's been great and stealing games all year but that hasn't really been the case.
I noticed that too. That's why I didn't really see the Huet comparisons making sense, that dude was a friggin beast in 05-06.

I think Dobes can be something special. A good ole goalie controversy though, Montreal Typical lol.

Pretty obvious Montembault has a pattern...play 3 -4 good games in a row and then lay an absolute stinker every 4th/5th one

And when I say stinker, I mean let in 4 or more goals. This is why he will never be a true #1 goalie
True, been saying the same for a while now.............not that he is not a decent goalie, and can play great at times.................when he is bad, he lets 3-4 goals in, and poof game over..........he usually does it in the 1st period........tonight he waited.

I’ve had it with Montembault. He can’t steal any games. Carey Price was the guy until career ending injury. Montembault is because the freaking French media like myself keeps wanting one. But like Theodore, the biggest French trash. The team, the city needs winners. They don’t need to be French. I’m French and I’ve had it. Montembault sucks balls.
Team Canada keeps wanting French goalies too, right? Montembault has stolen plenty of games. It's kind of incredible you've already forgotten this. You're having a tantrum. Whatever... Keep your "French trash" comments to yourself. Just because you're a self-loathing francophone doesn't mean we all are.

I've never been convinced in Montembeault as our guy going forward and I've been vocal on that for a while. I don't like his positioning, his lateral movement, and his puck handling. When you look at the attributes of the best goalies in the league, Monty is lacking in comparison.

I think he can be a really solid backup goalie, maybe even a tandem goalie, but if we're expecting him to be our full time starter when were a contending team then we're going to have a real bad time.

Monty is a backup level goalie who played as our starter because we didn't have anyone better. He's not a #1 on a contending team (which we aren't yet anyway) but Dobes will take his spot soon enough.
As good as Dobes has looked in his 4 starts, it's a bit premature to think that Monty won't bounce back and that Dobes is anywhere near ready to take over the number-one spot.

Monty didn't play well in this one but he did have a 47 save performance against the Leafs which was a game we had no business winning.

My take from this game was that it felt like watching an OHL team lose, they didn't know how to tighten things defensively. They should have come out in the second and played a very conservative game but instead, they reverted back to the earlier play of this season. I would have started Dobes btw but it is what it is.

For what it's worth, the Canucks are up 3-0 on the Oilers in the first period in a dominant performance. I wonder if that holds?
