Well, Therrien's stubbornness tends to weirdly pay off (in regular season at least) so I guess we might expect a win tonight. :dunno:

I thought it would be a good time to get one of Pateryn or Tinordi into a game.

...it would have been...and a good time to not have Brian ****ing Flynn on our 2nd line...and a good time to sit Le Petit Cluster****, after his exemplary performance for Edmonton (since he helped them just as much last night as any of their own players did)...and a good time to get DSP some reps on at least the 3rd line, since he's been playing great...but, hey, Therrien...never expect the unexpected because he has no idea how to be unexpected...or innovative...or sensible...or intelligent...let the young guys rot and grind, baby, grind!!...dat's DA SYSTEM!!...

you were complaining about him changing the lines at 9-1, and now your complaining about him not changing the lines at 9-2, in a game where everyone just stop playing entirely which as very little to do with the lines

So... Flynn is still on the 2nd line?

From what I can gather, the complaints were not about the presence of change, but rather the nature of these changes (ie injecting more 4th line players in the lineup).

And while the lines weren't necessarily the problem yesterday, the same could be said about the 5-1 blowout against VAN.

The only question that matters going forward is what gives us a better shot at winning?
And I doubt the combination of Flynn in our top 6 and Byron in is the answer.

I've tried real hard to give Therrien credit when the team was doing good, and even give him the benefit of the doubt when he made weird decisions. But now I'm just going to accept that he might just be a total moron.

I don't mind the lines, they're the same to me. Flynn and Semin are comparable at this point, except Flynn actually cares

i'd be ok with calling a youngster up to take that spot, that I can agree with

It's hilarious the amount of people defending, or demanding that Semin be back in the lineup. The guy did nothing since the season started. He's floating around, giving away the puck, making soft passes and he's not even trying to defend properly in his own zone.

If you ask for something, at least ask for one of the AHL guys to get a call up.

I think Bud Holloway has paid his dues. He deserves at least a look. He currently has 11 points in 9 games.

Agreed on all counts.

The only thing I hope management realize is that while as you said Semin and Flynn are about equivalent, none of them seems to be the solution we need for the top 6.

Maybe they're waiting it out to see who will emerge from the pack in St-Js but I hope something is done in the near future to remediate this situation.

Except he's been solid in his own zone. Has made plays in the offensive zone and has created tons of chances.

If you want to criticize his turnovers in the neutral zone then have at him, because they've been terrible.

Other than that he's been doing exactly what we need him to do.

I would prefer calling up Hudon from the AHL to play on the 2nd line however we don't have the roster space. What angers me is keeping Gilbert in the lineup for a back to back while we have Pateryn and Tinordi waiting to play. These guys won't develop or gain any trade value if they don't play and besides our bottom pairing has been pretty underwhelming lately. It's decisions like this that makes me question Therrien.

so he's been doing ok defensively, with a couple of bad turnovers and barely any points to show for? you're describing a 4th liner, then what's the difference between him and Flynn?

I would not blame his lack of production on him. I'd blame his linemates and i'm a huge fan of Chuck and Larry. This line should be all over the score sheet but they haven't cashed in on their chances.

I partially agree with you on that, but I think all 3 are to blame based on Semin's past history, he's not a changed man

Then what's the point of removing him if you are replacing him for someone who is not better while your record is 9-1?

The point of removing Semin is to replace him with someone who is actually better. Flynn is not unless you are living in La La Land.

Flynn on a 2nd line for more than 1 game when the team is healthy is totally ridiculous.

Flynn is better than Semin right now. Flynn is invested in the game.

I agree that he doesn't belong there. Semin is not the solution, and between him and Flynn, i'll take Flynn

I don't want any of them there though, we all agree on that part

I wonder what MT's reluctance is to give either Pateryn or Tinordi a game? Sitting a player for 12 straight games now isn't a good thing and then expecting them to play a good game when he finally gets in.
