Ok, you’re just playing semantics. His example was a strawman and a clear whataboutism. I did read what he said and I responded to it.
I'm playing semantics say you?
I just wonder which statement you wrote is the one you believe, the one where you stated that the CHL and junior model needs to be abolished or later on where you stated that no one is calling for the abolition of junior hockey?
As for the "whataboutism" it really wasn't one in the true sense and that term is getting stretched here for no obvious reasons, the poster didn't want to avoid the topic, in fact he wanted solutions and acknowledged there was a problem and then put it into the larger societal context as HC and the hockey players don't exist in a bubble outside of society, right?
No one is offering a “pie in the sky” solution. There is nothing wrong with recognising something is a problem and not having a solution in place to replace it with yet.
Then don't offer the solution of abolishing the CHL and burning HC to the ground if you don't have any solutions or even some suggestions, it's not a good look mate.
Anyone can criticize but it takes a little effort to make a positive suggestion for change.
HC does indeed need a new perspective and view brought into the organization as do a lot of big organizations with similar problems like the military and RCMP for example.
But I wouldn't except those new people who are experts in changing cultures to also be experts in say hockey, the military or policing so there can be some bridging here.
Also as Bert pointed out there have been changes in the culture from before even if HC isn't near to perfection to say the least, the lesson here is to learn from mistakes perhaps and make is a teaching point rather than a scapegoating or witch hunt.
Just saying.
