Winnipeg Jets would beat team Canada, how was Scheifele and his 31 goals left off team Canada?

Hagel, Marchand, Jarvis, Cierelli, Doughty, Paryko seriously……

Yup I've been pointing that out in my few posts , you hit the hammer by the nail's head.

To be fair, the American defensive structure was indeed impeccable and Matthews did play his part in that. He did nothing offensively though. So if the standard for your best player is to be a 3rd line center, I guess he did great.

He was not awful, but to say he led his team is a stretch.

Who said he "led" his team in anything tonight? He was great when he had the puck. Same with Hughes. Just because they didnt score doesnt mean they played poorly at all.

Let's be real for a moment. Samsonov would have allowed 1 GA tonight. Canada's "offence" was doodoo.

Canada had 65% of xGoals, and twice as many high danger chances.

Goalie difference.

Really didn't feel like it. Helly made a few good saves, but it felt like Team USA really didn't give the Canadians many good opportunities to score. Everytime Team Canada had the puck and was trying to attack, there was a US player right there with them shutting them down most of the time.

Pretty much nobody on the US did anything offensively. They had no sustained pressure and had like 4 high danger chances at 5 on 5 all night. Hellebuyck was good and unfortunately Canada is easier to defend when they don't have any threats on the point; Canada's D were either having their shots blocked or opting to rim the puck around the boards behind the net.

To be honest, this is usually how those things go. Usa beat us in the preliminary and act all cocky and then we humble them when it counts.

Hopefully it is more of the same.

I'm not going to pretend like this win doesn't feel good, but there's plenty of work ahead of us. If we do meet again in the championship game on Thursday, I'm going to be terrified.

McDavid sucked. Outside of the goal that Werenski gave him, he was a waste of puck usage.

No, he generated chances. Credit to the USA for keeping things to the perimeter but McDavid was our best player tonight.

I hate Matthews but he was fantastic defensively tonight, did a great job being in the right areas at all times.

Matthews was dreadful and little engagement. Not surprising considering his playoff resume. Never should have the C over others.

You’d think a guy with Patrice Bergeron in his name would appreciate a stellar defensive performance. But we all have agendas I guess.

It is a very good win, you should enjoy it.

Impeccable defensibly. Completely destroyed our zone entries and when we did generate something, Helle just easily stopped the play.

It's not an excuse, because they are talented enough to win regardless (if MacKinnon wasn't such a bum playing with no emotion), but Makar definitely would've made a difference tonight. You can't replace his shooting threat from the point, would've massively helped crack the US's solid defensive structure.

It’s possible we get a better result with grade A goaltending but I don’t think the other 2 can be much better.
