World Cup: Canada vs Sweden - who got the best D at world cup?

Actually lots of have them as the best D in the world. So it's not a weird statement by any means. I mean both CBS and the NHL networkd had Sweden as #1 in front of Canada.

Swedish defensemen are good but aren't close to better than Canada.

Canada's D are 100% Western conference studs. Sweden has too many overrated "defensemen" that play in the Easy east where they never get to practice their defensive skills which is why I put "defensemen" in quotes.
 
Sweden's defence is better, but it won't matter as Canada has better forwards than all the other teams along with elite goaltending. Canada is elite in all positions while Sweden's forwards are iffy (relative to Canada) after top-6.

Yeah Canada certainly has more quality players on the Forward side. Top 6 players on all positions, Sweden however has great two way players doing third and fourth line duty. Player by player it's Canda by a big margin, but I really like the team Sweden has though.

Price doesn't have any advantage over Lundqvist. It's more of the opposite considering Price hasn't played hockey for a year. As for the defense, I give a slight advantage to Sweden, certainly when guys like Keith, Letang and Subban aren't playing. By forwards Canada definitely has the advantage, but the Swedish forward composition with excellent two-way forwards helps to cover the gap a bit.
 
So from the 2014 Olympic roster where the team gave up 3 goals for the entire tournament, all players except Suban and Muzzin are back. We add Burns.

Canada easily the best D in the world .... AINC

The thing which is sure around here is that everything Canadian is being overrated compared to anything European.

With Kronwall out the Swedish D got a lot better, no weak spots. Neither has Canada of course.
 
Sweden's D is completely filth, perfectly balanced.

EK - Lindholm/Ekholm, perfect either way

Hedman - Stralman, perfect as we know

OEL - Hjalmarsson, perfect combo

With Lundqvist in net they'll be literaly impossible to score on.

LD Pietrangelo RD Burns

Sweden's Defense:
LD Hjalmarsson RD Karlsson
LD Lindholm RD Ekman-Larsson
LD Hedman RD Stralman
Extra: LD Ekholm

This is a hard choice but I'd have to go with Sweden's defense, just because Sweden's defense is stacked.
