Marner and McDavid's games don't blend together well. Both need the puck on their stick and look to pass

Point is used to Kucherov as the primary puck handler, has speed to burn and scored 50 goals. It was a no brainer to put these 2 together

Nah, Stone is good because he's so good at creating turnovers and starting transitions. McDavid can really take advantage of that. You don't need 3 players racing up the ice all at top speed anyway.

I wanted Marchand - Crosby - Stone as a line.

I still think Stone is out of place on that line, but I wanted Point with McDavid so happy there.

One thing I like about the roster size is you cannot bench like half the team. US sort of forced to have to play and make an effort tonight, would be a bad setup I think if they were able to just rest everyone and then be not as sharp in the title game

That's why this tournament is stupid.

They got no reward for getting automatic inclusion in the championships, actually have to play a pointless game, whereas canada gets to beat the worst team for their do-over chance.

Built in excuse from that poster for a game that isnt even settled yet (finland could still make a comeback so lets wait this one out) and 2) the US are a very good team so Canada playing them again doesnt even guarantee a win.

Its like some US residents found out about hockey, saw US beat Canada and thought that was that, they own the sport.

Reasonable US posters who watch the game properly and dont make emotional takes recognize CAN - US is a great matchup and R2 should be fun game in finals with this whole Tourney just being a pre-show/warm up for 2026 Olympics

I never like tourneys where teams can easily meet twice, because so often whoever wins game 1 loses the 2nd meeting. A bit different in Olympics if you're in same group you cannot really meet again til the final and its a long time between the games but not sure how they can change it

I figured Point and Stone would be better linemates, their style mesh way better.

Even a guy like Tom Wilson would be a way better winger for McDavid than Marner.
