He’s a good player and I’d love him on the Habs but he has absolutely no buisness being here for a best on best. Suzuki amongst the names you mentioned would br way better choices
I think Suzuki would be just as good as Cirelli, no denying that, but based on this years stats you probably take Cirelli who has also won two Cups and scored some huge goals. If you want someone who's going to score the big goal, wouldn't you take the guy with more goals in Cirelli?

Based on what I've seen so far, think skating ability is pretty important for hockey. Sure Canada has been clinical in their opportunities but the biggest difference is their speed so far.

Yeah, why does one game not matter at all and the other does? Stupid.
The game on Saturday did matter...the US has already qualified for the finals as a result. Canada had to win their third and final game in order to make it that far. If the US lost on Saturday then tonight would be important for them. Are you okay?

It would be a more compelling argument if Canada was playing the US again in this game instead of Finland.

But I also wanted Konecny in.
You just have to believe in his magic.

Being less jokey though, you'd think they'd want a gritty skill guy like Konecny in the lineup against the US. No idea why they thought he was the guy to scratch.

20 goals, +18 on the year, he and Hagel are outscoring opponents at 4 on 5? I get why people want Hyman but Hyman can't kill penalties as well and has fewer goals and points. Scheifele doesn't hold a candle defensively but Cirelli is no match on offense, to be fair.
Hyman can kill penalties. Knobloch doesn’t use him there anymore but woodcroft did all the time. Hyman is a better forechecker too.

I figured Point and Stone would be better linemates, their style mesh way better.

Even a guy like Tom Wilson would be a way better winger for McDavid than Marner.

Not a knock on Marner it’s a style thing.

Stone’s best quality is fitting in with his high hockey IQ and middling physical tools.

He’ll get out of McDavid’s way and end up at the right place at the right time.

Meanwhile Point has the speed and the motor.

Against the worst team in the pool by a large margin oh man how tough for canada. No usa has a meaningless game to power through and try and stay healthy through for canada to get their second shot at the best team in the pool

No I take the better players in schiefle and Suzuki. Those players would also have 2 cups if they were on the lightning. Moot point

As good as Canada looks, the goaltending advantage the Americans have more than equals the Canadians edge at forward.

The Americans will be the rightful favorites come Thursday,

Why is Saros not starting?
He wasn't very good in his first game, but Lankinen did nothing to inspire any kind of confidence that he should get this game.

The win the other day had nothing to do with him whatsoever.

Honestly, EVERY goal on Lankinen in this game has been poor. The rebound on the last goal stunk.

And I would say at least 2 of the 3 goals he allowed against Sweden were HORRIBLE. Gustavsson and Ullmark somehow combined for weaker goals. The quality of goals in that entire game were just so weak.

They're already throwing in the towel on this game by not making a goalie change.

McDavid almost scores 1 on 3

On paper, they were favourites before the tournament started.
