What is the better choice?

Binnington literally just showed Cooper that nothing is safe with him in net. He was scrambling after the EN goal and Aho had him beat but missed the net.

If Canada was leading 3-0, this game would be going to OT right now. How Cooper can start this guy again is fireable. He almost single handedly cost Canada this game and tournament. If Canada won in OT, you can basically guarantee the US was throwing the game against Sweden.

Binnington is one of those goalies that once he lets one in he can fall apart and let in another couple right after. Reminds me of Samsonov.

Fans of Team Canada, now you know how Oiler fans feel watching Mcdavid brilliance while management chooses to go with Skinner/ Mike Smith/ Koskinen in net for some reason.

Sportsnet said at the start of the game that the reason Binnington was back in the net is for his ability to play the puck.

Good game to Finland, never gave up and ended up making a game of it late. Tough to deal with injuries to their defence, in particular Heiskanen would have made a world of difference for Finland. I liked the way Canada's combinations looked. Far from a perfect game. Binnington never makes it look easy or leaves you feeling comfortable, though Canada's choices in defending while the net was empty left a lot to be desired.

He just has terrible crease control. The 4-2 goal that really got the momentum going was him completely over-sliding his net which sent him into pure chaos losing his stick, flopping around, and giving himself no chance to save Granlund's first.

Sportsnet said after the game that Cooper said Binnington is the guy and will be the guy before the tournament and is too scared to change him out of fear of being wrong.

Cooper wants Canada to win despite Binnington so he can look right. He's putting his ego above Canada.

I was reading the comments by posters calling out how great Binnington was in the first two periods, and I was wondering which game they were watching (or were they just watching the stat sheet)? He had a shut-out at that point, but looked shaky and his rebound control was poor.

I'm not quite sure how you blame Binnington on any of those goals...
1st one post and in from the front. Nice D.
2nd one 6 on 5, tic tac play one timer with mega screen.
3rd one a wicked wrister with the D nowhere to be found.
