Suzuki over Cirelli was no brainer for a checking line.

We’ll see if Cooper has the stones to put Jarvis in for him next game. Even bigger balls would be demoting Crosby who has been ass since game 1

He will never sit a Tampa Bay player.

He won’t jeopardize his relationship with one of his paid players for an all star break tournament.

Well, me for one.

Perhaps you should've let the betting markets know of this ahead of time, surely NiQuil's power rankings would've swung the odds substantially.

USA to win outright was +160, Canada +140 at closing.

I have a $400 ticket on the USA to win outright FWIW

This tournament isn’t helping marner cause in search for a big contract…

In Toronto it won't matter, they'll pay him pretty much whatever he wants regardless. That's how they do.

A few other teams though may take notice, the smart ones. If he goes UFA he's still getting a monster deal regardless as there's always that one desperate/gullible GM.

Why would we want a clutch PPG player that can kill penalties when we can have a 45 point player that kills penalties?

Finland needed their goaltender to play well, and he has been terrible. Probably should have started Saros.
also had UPL as an option if they lost all confidence in Saros from the USA game

Lankinen was shakey against Sweden too, but he got outclassed in mid-ness by Ullmark and Gustavsson.

He probably shouldn't have started this game

I actually didn't like how Canada played until the last five minutes. So, Canada is up three when I don't like how the team plays, tied when I do like how the team plays. Clearly I know much.
I actually kind of agree. Hard to argue with results, but I thought Finland was the better team for a few decent stretches.

Canada can be better, which is bad news for Finland.

Makes me feel bad to see messages like "Finland shouldn't be in the tournament". More than not having us the tournament should've included more teams. Hockey is so damn boring if its played with two teams.. there is always a chance that on a good day Finland can beat any team.

I mean yeah we have had rough time, but we can fill a full NHL lineup even if our lineup is mainly made of bottom line defenceman. No excuses with our offence not scoring as much as they should with their ability.

He let in only 2 against the American team. Yes the first one was bad, but hardly the issue with Canada that game
Am I the only one who sees a pattern here? What did we learn from our past success?🤷‍♂️

From Wikipedia... " In the 2002 Olympics at Salt Lake City, Utah, Brodeur was initially named the backup behind Curtis Joseph. But following Joseph's losing the tournament opener against Sweden, Brodeur was named the starting goaltender the rest of the way, and won gold for Canada."

From Wikipedia... "Luongo succeeded Brodeur as Canada's starting goaltender during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, winning a gold medal."

From Wikipedia... "The Golden Knights entered the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs as the top seed in the Western Conference, with Brossoit the team's starting goaltender and Hill as backup. However, in Game 3 of the Knights' second round series against the Edmonton Oilers, Brossoit injured himself while making a save, necessitating Hill taking over the net." Vegas won the Stanley Cup with Hill in net.

Odds makers also factor in the number of bets to cover their losses.

Canadians bet a lot on hockey.

Its not that simple.

For me, I felt that the goaltending and defence discrepancy is too large to be offset by our top end talent at centre.

But it’s pretty close, so either team winning isn’t that much of a surprise.

Cirelli and Jarvis being on the team is a joke. Marner can be healthy scratched for anyone

Absolute insanity the reaches people make to discredit the greatest players

Not sure if Canada and US each played Finland and Sweden 10 times if either would be able to win more than say 2 of the 10. Russia would obviously be a legit threat and I almost think a Czech team would be more competitive than those 2

The tournament organizers are dumb for not scheduling the third games at the same time. Now Sweden/USA will be a exhibition game.

In Soccer the last group game is always the same time to not influence the results of other games.

They play a very different game from the juggernaut Canadian teams of the 2010's.

A lot more speed, they rely a lot more on their transactional speed and rush chances as opposed to the heavy cycle game of the past.

This Canadian team plays more like a Russian team from the 00's than the 2014 Canadian team.

This hockey game brought to you by Ozempic - please lose some weight you fat pos

Seriously though, how many times have they mentioned it so far? hahaha
