They rely on superior individiual skill. Not on great team play. You can see that well on their power play.
Their offence looks definitely quite scary, but honestly defence doesn’t impress me at all. With the right approach they could be in trouble against some teams in this tournament. Not sure if Finland coached by dinosaur Pennanen is one those teams though.
They have but not that underwhelming, they are still going to roast you if you give up those opportunities on a regular basis.
My theory is, that good team system and communication always beats superior individual skill and no system, you don't even have to match that skill. Just be good enough.
Finland has offensively been a one line team. Defense has looked kinda meh. Not sold on Meriläinen.
Already having nightmares of Puutio on the ice against this Canadian offense. LOL
Still plenty of guys who can put the puck in the net off those opportunities Canada has been giving up though.
I've been hard on Johnson before, but I've come around and now I want more Johnson.
Him and McTavish are kinda carrying that top line because Bedard is having a very bad game. Even his passing is off now...like that last one.
Yeah he doesn't look nearly as comfortable as he did in the last two games. I like that Othmann plays a direct but smart game, but also mixes it up physically and clearly pisses off the other team. Great element for that line.
