Canada, what has happened to you at the junior level?

Easy now, Connor McDavid could still be playing in this tournament .

In all seriousness, this crop of players are simply disappointing. I'm not sure Marner and Strome can carry Canada to Gold on home soil.

I expect Canada to come out full of heart and soul come Christmas time though. They are playing for our nation.

Can someone who watched game please tell me how the following players looked?
Jake Bean
Mitch Marner
Tyson Jost
Dante Fabbro
Michael McLeod

Bean -- Looked good, you can see the offensive flashes. Overall, can't complain about his game too much.

Marner -- Had some ups and downs. Made an absolutely filthy pass across the ice to set up a beautiful chance on the PP but Sandstrom made a phenomenal save.

Jost -- Looked solid. I've seen him play more dominant though.

Fabbro -- Underwhelming. A few good PP chances, but definitely didn't play his best game.

McLeod -- Very poor performance in my view. Bobbled a 3 on 1 and looked completely foolish during that play. Had other head scratching moments, this kid lacks offensive finish.

Thank you sir!

Thank you sir!

If you are looking for someone who did play good for Canada, Anthony Cirelli was awesome for us.

From the Swedes, Eriksson Ek played outstanding. Larsson was an absolute force, this kid will be a future NHL star Dman. Sandstrom was arguably the best player on the ice, he made some unreal saves. Very impressed with his performance.

:yo:
ducks know to pick a defenseman

You guys sure do. I sent a little message on HFDucks about Larsson. I'm of the the view that Lindholm is a bona fide #1 Dman right now. With Vatanen as an offensive 2nd pairing PP guy, plus Theo coming up. Of course Fowler is still good. Now Larsson who has absolutely first pairing potential, it is an envious position to be in.

With your internal budget, having guys like Theo and Larsson who can come in on the cheap with their ELCs, it's definitely a blessing :). I ****ing hate it as rivals in your division, but talent is talent and I always try to be objective evaluating talent. You have an excellent scouting department, you guys can really evaluate Dmen.

Team Canada will be a totally different team at the Juniors. And I consider the Subway Summit Series to be a far better projection of players and the final team. I'm still confident that the best possible team would be a clear favourite and would dominate.

I didnt see the game, but 5-1 seems a bit much consider canada won the shoots.

On summer vaca so I haven't watched any of the games from Plymouth. Not surprised at the results though, and am not confident that the final team at Christmas will be a strong gold medal contending team...but we shall see... I will say this, it is just summer hockey, and given the fact that most of these elite junior players, especially the high draft picks in their final year of junior eligibility, are, by their own admission, already done with junior hockey...thus it is kind of difficult to muster up the appropriate motivation required to win a hockey game...see Dylan Strom's remarks on TSN. "Done with junior hockey", he said. They want nothing more than just to move on from junior and begin making the big pro $$$. Junior tournaments, and especially junior summer evaluation camps for a tournament most of them would rather not be playing in anyway is far beneath them. So, is anybody surprised at the results? I hope the U.S. dances all over them in the final game. Perhaps then the morons at Hockey Canada will start taking this tournament seriously instead of just continuously feeding Canadian fans ******** marketing storylines about Strome/Marner chemistry and snazzy new uniforms at 450 a pop.

now back to regularly scheduled summer vaca programming for another 9 days.

Disregard all the goals, which team was better?
So far Sweden has looked solid especially Larsson he is NHL ready. Cirelli for Canada, really no one else. Tolvanen is as advertised as the Finnish keeper. McAvoy is a treat to watch he commands the ice. Foley, nice 3rd round pick, reminds me of Simmonds, goes to the net and soft hands. USA passes the puck really fast and with purpose. Canadian Dee seem to over handle and miss the important first pass, not impressed with any of them. Marner and the Canadian stars has been pretty much invisible. Powerplay time can make players look good but not even this is savings some of these guys from a bad impression.
