It really is weird watching a gold game where you are happy for either nation to win.lol

Makes it more relaxing but less emotional. I don’t care one way or another which team wins here. Maybe I am swinging more towards Germany because they have never done it before. But basically whatever result is fine. I feel none of the emotion I felt in support of the Latvians, probably because their achievement was more absurd and they were true underdogs against that American team. I don’t think that, going player-by-player, this Canadian team is that great a favourite. I think Canada will win, but it would not be crazy if this German team beat them.

It doesn't undo the knifes edge difference in talent level between European based players and a team filled with no stars and 3rd 4th liners from the NHL either playing against a hostile crowd and German team that is fired up beyond belief with a chance to do something they have never done before, and to do it against Mighty Canada to boot.

Any experienced hockey fan using their eyeballs should be able to see by watching both these teams previous games the minimal difference in ability between both these squads.


That's the real truth, you can call it something else................but that's the truth.

But I know why you are painting it the way you are, if Canada wins you get to say.." well they should have won, look at all those nhl'ers" if Germany wins you get to twist the knife in harder.

This tournament has been hard to take seriously for Canada. Players don't want to play for fear of injury. Club team and career takes priority over patriotism / pride.

Not sure if its the same for the Euro players. The NHL has sucked the fun out of the IIHF World Championships.

Hard to watch a team (or take is seriously) that has Myers and Lucic on it.

I do like the German squad though. Really playing with heart out there.

Game is kind of a letdown after watching the Latvia / US game. The Latvians and their crowd were fun to watch.
