I love the trapezoid.

It ensures that goalies can't run interference on forecheckers.

Both sides of the coin exist, but it was always fun to see the freedom goaltenders have in International play. The contrast in rules and ice surface between nhl and internationally always gave chances to compare different rules and versions of the game now that's gone.

Especially seeing someone like a Price who is almost an extra defenseman when he plays the puck lol.

My gut says Finland will win because of the close calls / bad breaks Canada has gotten. Feels like it's NOT our day.

Ok, for third period coming I only say go Suomi, go Suomi. I cheer for Finland but I think if Canada should win it won’t be undeserved.

Keep in mind the start we had lol, I thought they were going to finish in 8th or 9th place. If we get silver it'll feel like a gold given the circumstances.

Comtois with a nice interview.. seems like a nice young man that says the right things. Maybe he's changed.

I'm quite happy about the current score, given the refereeing. I just hope the final score will be decided by hockey and the stupid calls and stupid counter-calls are gone. Oh, and I am fine about the offside, would've been if it was Finnish goal too. That's one of the few points where you can change the shitty refereeing to actually follow the rules, and by current rules, that was clearly offside.

That's true. Obviously, I would like to see Canada win so...

Man, the reffing sucks. Ohtamaa's penalty was BS and Canada got a couple easy ones before that as well, so I wasn't too upset about it, but still...

Also, speaking as a Finn, Coach's challenge is stupid... Such a small difference. Feels like that isn't the kind of play that it's supposed to prevent. I mean, yeah, rules are rules, but like a couple millimeters don't really change the plays.

Boring game so far. Atrocious hockey. Good Canada PK, but otherwise ugly game from them as well. Finns don't get anything done on the Power Play.

It was half a meter.

That has nothing to do with what i said. I just find it funny that same people say that referees make bad calls and still they think that the rule which can undo the bad calls is a terrible rule?

A person can hold two thoughts in their mind at the same time.

It can both be (a) a terrible rule, and (b) the correct call at the same time.

There’s a reason the IIHF is changing that rule next year and this is the last game under that rule. Poetic that it could be a deciding factor in a very close Gold medal game.

Well said.

Damn, Comtois eyeing that reporter down. Intense eye language going on there.

"I'll win the gold and then we're going on a date sweetheart."

I don't like the coaches' challenge on offside but according to the current rules it went right. Hope they change the rule though.

Tight game, can go either way. Except if it goes to OT. I have zero faith in us against Canada 3 on 3. Their skating is so much better.

Young Owen Power, wow.

Absorbs the contact makes a play off the boards. Then a cheeky pass to help Canada leave the zone.

We'll be seeing this kid playing for Canada many times.

Soooo promising.

Guy with that frame and name is destined for greatness

Nothing wrong with the call on the offside as it stands.

It's within the rules for Finland to challenge and it's within the current rules for it to be judged offside.

I'd rather it be overturned than to win on an illegal goal.

It doesn't mean it can't be deflating to fans to see your team shoot and score to take the lead only for it to be walked back.

Not sure what you're referring to here. Didn't see the interview now but there's nothing I've seen or heard from him playing for the Ducks that would have me think otherwise.

Shocking.. going into 3rd with a close game.

It's been a good game. I could honestly see 1-1 holding till OT.

Still waiting for Mangiapane to do something.. he seems to be coming up clutch in this tourney!
Not a bad game to watch at all if people would just concentrate on the play on the ice and not on some guys wearing striped black and white shirts.

As an average joe minor league hockey player growing up who never went anywhere in the sport and was never going to go anywhere I'm still amazed at the talent these guys playing here have in this sport when I watch a game like this, even when the talent that is usually here isn't this year. They can do things a guy like me could only have wished he could have done out there.
